Unread post Back for a while, been away writing a book...
As everyone here knows I have been away for a while, what they don't know is why, I have been writing a book about some things I really think about a lot, and wish to get it published, hopefully I will be finished with the book soon, and hope to get it published as well. The book is on a subject a lot of Americans can agree on and have some revelations on what is going on and how it affects us all. But, I won't get into that here, this isn't the place, but if anyone wishes to know what the books name is and/or what it is about, PM me I will tell anyone the gist of it.

Now after getting the reason I have been away, out of the way, I am thinking of firing up my TWGS again or getting the new version and firing that up, but first I have to get in contact with JP and get copies of my different licenses sent to me.

I hope the community has been doing well in my absence.

Thanks Micro, glad to be back, hope to get my reg codes again soon, so as to get a TWGS back up and running soon.

Now I have to go to the classifieds to place an ad to sell a couple of computers I have that others may want, maybe 3 of them.

I will, if I can find a publisher to publish it when I am done.

Thanks for the welcome back too.

If you can't find a big publisher, you can always self-publish. One of my friends published a cookbook through a small print house. I bought a copy and the print quality is quite good. I can get you the name of the printer if you need it.

Welcome back.

It would not be improper for you to post information about your book here. The forum banner is:

Talk about anything on your mind, TradeWars or not. But please, post game playing/hosting questions in the appropriate forum, and keep the discussion civil

If the discussion is political or religious, that could cause some un-civil responses. LOL

The book is about the jobless rate and some truths behind why the unemployment rate is so high. The books name is called " The Secret Discrimination".

It is somewhat political but not actually political.

The main gist of the book is this: The reason the jobless rate is so high. is this main thing. Since the economy tanked in 2008, business can now afford to be nit picky on how they hire and whom they hire.

I have been doing a lot of research for the book and it would surprise you to learn the main reason the jobless rate is so high, is this one thing, business'
turn down people with felonies now, and without giving a specific reason, for why. They are also turning away older people, who have worked most of their lives, but being they are getting up there in age, and may have health issues as well, the companies see them as a risk. As well as the people with felonies, even though most of them just want to get a fair chance to get their lives back and overcome what they got in trouble for.

Its sad to see this happen to people, especially when this country really needs to put its people back to work. Because that will really be the catalyst that gets the economy back on track again.

On the people with felonies, if they are turned down, they should ask why and what felony they have, is causing them to not be gainfully employed with a company. By law the companies must tell you the specific reason and felony that keeps someone from working, or face a $100,000 to $150,000 fine for not complying, most job hunters don't know about this little fact, and should. Because if a company fails to give a proper reason with proof and evidence to back it up, they can be taken to court and fined for their actions.

Like I said, i did a whole lot of research on this subject, and hope the book I am writing will illuminate things for people and get the proper agencies and groups involved for the rights of those being discriminated against.

I know this matter very well and personally myself, and that is the reason I am writing this book. If all goes well it should be done in about a month or two. Most of the time spent on writing the book was on the research, and going to courthouses and digging through business law books and labor law books to gather most of the information in it.

I know a guy (online only, so I can't actually verify anything he says) who's neurotically proud to work at a Fortune 500 company. He claims his employer discriminates in hiring all the time, but they do it in a way that can't be proven. I find this totally believable because I used to see the same thing working in retail. Applications and resumes were retained for the required 6 months, but most of them went into a pile that had no chance of being considered, often for discriminatory reasons.

It's also common knowledge in the tech industry that companies post job openings with ridiculously specific requirements in order to hire a specific candidate. The idea that anyone is competing on a level playing field is a joke.

There is only one way to make it a level and fair playing field. Remove Name, Race, Gender & Age from the application & only include actual qualifications from past experience/education. Applications should only be accepted online and issued a number when applying. Of course just my 2 cents, I never wanted to know anything about a person except qualifications when hiring and I rarely ever got a person that wasn't qualified.....anyone can lie so sometimes you just swing and miss.

Sounds like an interesting book, I'd love to read it if you publish.

If you're still working on it, I might suggest you also mention if you already haven't that many companies discriminate on the basis of your credit rating as well - even if the job has nothing to do with accounting or handling money in any fashion.

It's a serious catch-22 - you're unemployed so you have no money to pay your debts, but you can't get a job because your credit score is trashed from not being able to pay your bills.

I once had a very good job offer fall through on the basis of my credit score. I had an offer letter, had already gone through an insane amount of screening - drug testing, verification of employers for past ten years, 2 interviews, and they even reviewed my security clearance that I'd obtained some years before through the FBI to work at the VA.

Then they ran the credit check and withdrew the job offer... pissed me off but there really wasn't much I could do. And it wasn't the first time I'd been rejected for that reason, but the first good job I'd lost because of it. For many office jobs it's become standard to have to pass a credit check.
