So true... every topic here turns into a pi$$ing match, even the moderators get in on the action.

It kills me because there is actually a lot of positive stuff going on that gets drowned out: * Big D keeping the tournies and competitive scene alive * Cruncher trying new ways to reach casual players * Micro building that search page + working on a new .net-based helper * Mongoose delivered on a $1k kickstarter for a new cross-platform helper * Helix trying to get more tutorials and docs out there * JP doing some promising work on Botlink that could really open the game up * Bunches of sysops still running and rebanging games By focusing on the negative and flaming each other, we are basically killing these initiatives as who wants to put in their precious spare time for something that won't be appreciated and likely ridiculed? Instead, we should praise and encourage these efforts and seek ways to keep TW alive. Let's make this community not a bickering cesspool, but a catalyst for change.

I have replied to mrdon by PM as I know from many, many, previous occasions that this thread would be locked if I dared express my opinion in public in the Land of the Free.

Kavanagh. We have a saying in my company - be the change you seek. I'd like to get the "Like" mod (no facebook affiliation) installed, as I've found it as a great way to let members easily give positive feedback without the time costs and possibly perils of commenting. Those "likes" can also be used for filtering, letting a more casual follower track the forums without having their inbox flooded with flame-filled threads. Who runs this forum? I'm happy to do the work, if desired.

 Re: authorization
I responded in your main thread questioning this subject. As I explained I have no access to change you to the registered group. I believe JP is the only one with that access. I do apologize for your wait. I do check in on the board almost everyday. Although if I don't see any red flags I just let it run and trust the mods. If things get out of control PM me and Ill check in as soon as I am home.

I kinda like how they handle the forum on http://stackoverflow.com/I know, it's entirely different format, but the answers that get the most positive votes also get larger and bolder fonts. And a star next to them indicating how many votes that reply received. I'm pretty sure each person can only vote once. The negative or unhelpful answers have smaller, not bold fonts.

Yeah, stackoverflow is nice and the guy behind the project just announced today his "future of forums" software called Discourse, which seems to have similar features.

The flame-wars forum is only for fun. I find it rather funny, and it gives me a chuckle every now and again. We do come together under adversity. There were some huge "flame wars" going on here, before JP closed the Smack forum. Then at the tender young age of 42, we lost Space Ghost to congestive heart failure. We all came together, and raised money for his widow and son. TW is our hobby/escape. The game and the flame wars. In the end, if you get Twarriors together in one room, now that's a lot of fun! I've been fortunate to have gone to the first meeting in Las Vegas, and back in the dial-up days we would get together here, locally. I've never seen a group of people, of all ages and backgrounds come together with this much passion over at 26+ year old bbs text game.
