If someone has a couple free moments...
I have a new Router/Modem from my ISP with a wireless range of: line of sight, anything else sucks horribly.
Long story short. I set the ISP's Router/Modem to 'bridge' and connected my much better personal Wireless Router (Linksys WRT160N V3), and then turned on my Laptop connected to the WiFi and Volia it worked.. except, that my two other Windows7 computers can't use the Internet. It's as if the Router stopped 'routing' signals. All PC's can connect to the Linksys Router, however only one PC, and I mean only one no matter it's on or off, can access the Internet.
I'm half way there, I know this can work, but I'm missing something. Do I need to give my Computers static IPs? ....ironically, I've never had to configure my router before. these things usually resolve them selves.
Any help would be appreicated.
Thanks

I would try to help you out here, but the last time I attempted to help a person a couple of individuals tried to turn it into a smack thread. Post the same question at Hyperspace forum and I'll try to help you out, or you can wait 3 or 4 days for EP or Micro to check in here. http://hyperspace.forums1.net/

set the router to NAT and all the computers to DHCP, let the linksys router handle it. H

Re: If someone has a couple free moments...
Hi. Thanks for repsonding with some good tips.
BigD : I'll make a post asap
Timerbwolf : I've been to the linksys site.. have upgraded the firmware and nothing has changed
Helix : not trying to sound like an Expert, but, I've read that Windows(7, at least), uses DHCP by default. There wasn't a NAT setting in the Router setup. From what I gathered from hunting around the Net, the Linksys' NAT mode is enabled by settingup Port-Forwarding... nothing changed
Comd Data : That site is really an elaborate setup to sell a software util. Wasn't able to find anything useful.
All in all, this is probably a simple thing for a Network admin to 'fix'. I appreciate that my initial post probably didn't give enough detail, and I know from experience that 'Telephone Tech Support' is not fun. Hopefully BigD will have an alternative solution, failing that I'm switching ISP's. heh
Sorry to everyone in that Vic's Hell, game..

Re: If someone has a couple free moments...
LoneStar, DHCP is on in the OS, by changing the ISP router to bridged, each computer is trying to get its own external IP address and you are probably limited to just 1. My Suggestions: 1. Set the ISP router back to Default (so it will work the way it did before) 2. Set the Linksys back to the default settings (generally that means the DHCP server in the Linksys will hand out NAT'ed IP addresses to all your computers.) The internal ip addresses below will change depending on the settings in the DHCP server in the Linksys Router. Computer (192.168.0.10) \ Computer (192.168.0.11) -- Linksys (192.168.0.1) -- ISP router (External IP) Computer (192.168.0.12) / Comd Data PS I went through the same issues on my home network. I used portforward to find my linksys router set up info. If you post the linksys model number I will find the correct instruction set for you. Mine was a Linksys WRT54GL ( http://portforward.com/english/routers/ ... TELNET.htm). How to find out the router IP address http://portforward.com/networking/route ... ddress.htm

Comd Data, Thanks for the info. I'll have antoher go at playing with my equipment (chuckle), on the weekend. I read somewhere that it's possible to extend the range of a WiFi, without having to use Bridge-mode & Ethernet Cable --which is probably what you're suggesting, I just have to reread you post 20more times Thanks again for the help
