The one truth in all of this is players like Mongoose an myself don't play this game in the realm of the "millisecond".

But, in my defense "Adapt or Die" was the battle cry when I first returned. Now if you all want to play the version that's gaining popularity, it's you who have to "Adapt or Die". This game was held "hostage" by those of you who do play a very aggressive style, now the game is more friendly for casual players, and there are a great deal more players playing today than last year.

They just don't play the public games... humm, I wonder why?

Will they ever come back to public games? If I had to guess, I'd say yes, because their private games will lack competition as they improve their skills. They will come looking for more competition just as we all did back in the day leaving our local dial-up games to find larger public games.

You should be be going to school for nursing instead of programming, that way you'd have access to more of those cheap drugs you're on.

Now that, what few people were back crunchers ideas have left her side, now she is making-up imaginary groups of TW players that supposedly play on secret unseen servers! Get real cruncher!!! The private groups are a very small portion of what is left of the TW community! If they were even to read a quarter of the crap that you post on this forum, trust me, they wouldnt want you to be the voice for them! ROFL

TWGS v2 Activity
Servers Installed: 2,014 Active: 93
Active servers have been online in the last 3 days.

Players:
This Month: 441
Last Month: 764
This Year: 6,576
Last Year: 1,585
Total: 8,003 Player totals are unique players over all servers.

Looks to me like the 10 of you who claim to still be expert players are now outnumbered 650 to 1. Hummm.....

As a developer yourself I find it hard to believe you would even go there. 2.x.x is a release, x.2.x is a major and x.x.2 is a minor release.

And what that means is entirely arbitrary.

Yes, exactly. Show me where it's documented what should happen when you script things on the millisecond level.

Kaus wrote:
Unless of course you actually meant the DOS version, in which case your correct it's not multiplayer.

That's why I made a distinction between the door version and the HVS version. Again, the point is that each version of this game has been fundamentally different at a very low level. The real game -- one most people enjoy playing -- is implemented on top of those low-level details.

Not to anyone who has any real programming experience or wants to get some. And there are about 39 million Web pages about Java programming, not to mention actual books, university classes, etc., as opposed to a handful of pages and forum posts about TWX script.

I don't entirely trust JP's unique user figures, but I do know this: there were 34 people interested enough in v2 to pay me to finish my helper. I'm sure there are many times that number who will enjoy using it for free.

Mongoose,

I'm interested to see what you have planned for this helper. It's been a long time since someone made a helper. Props to you for even giving this a go.

Okay now keep in mind that just records IP addys, so lets say a player like me who is in the military and travels non stop for training. In the last year I have logged in from hundreds of different hotels, and hundreds of different times in different state via laptop, and cell phone using different wifi's, my families compters when on vacation in a bunch of different states, from different work computers in different states. Are you getting the drift? Its safe to say Iam not the only one thats travels alot and uses different means to play this game!!!!! That counter JP has up is far from accurate, plain and simple!

I may not be "fingerprint" accurate, but it's a far cry from the 3 or so players you claim to be playing v2.

Honestly, Iam glad to see you are doing something to help the community mongoose, truely!! Now I wish you would be open minded about the issues with V2, compared to V1. Its not that anyone wants to "fight" the changes, we just wish it was done in a proper manner!!! Here we are again stuck with an even more broken version and JP nowhere to be seen! The sad thing is, you have weak players like cruncher, and helix that use the broken version as a protection blanket or a superman cape if you will, it makes them act like "tough guys" we challenge them all the time to games (on v1 of course) but they refuse to cause they "only play on v2" Well, they feel that they have a chance to win on v2 cause of all the unexpected issues the bugs cause in it, which would be the only hope they have!

I was thinking more like 10 players, playing 4-5 different games at a time!!!

You realize we have the same perspective on players who only play v1, right? As we see it, the "weak" players are the ones who can't enjoy TradeWars without the crutch of script timings being predictable down to a few milliseconds. The bottom line is we're playing entirely different games. We're playing TradeWars; you're playing the undocumented internals of TWGSv1.

I could walk circles around you if I had a 280 ping and you had a 120 ping. Players like you and Cruncher will never be any good because you refuse to learn the game, so you get the developer to change the game. I have news for you, you still won't win against good competition, simply because you won't put the time in to learn how to win.

ROFL, Again your lack of skills and game knowledge shows its true colors! Please explain how V2's internal funtions delays causing people to be booted to the main menu is enjoyable?? Iam puzzled by mongooses and crunchers stupidity!!!! Honestly how did these 2 survive birth? Guess you cant fix stupid!!! Iam done with this thread!
