Twisted TW - Back up for testing
I thought I'd keep the discussion going since it's valid information that players should know about.

So what's the deal Traveler? Did Helix changed your edit and is trying to claim that it's the original edit? Why would he use the name of your edit on an edit that wasn't original?

Re: Twisted TW - Back up for testing
The TWA he has is an old one. ships are wrong and other things which have been fixed. I asked him to wait till it was finished but being Helix he has to do just what you ask him not to do. At this point I really done care any-more. I'll run it on my server and a few other's who I trust and Helix is not one of them. He has no Honor and is untrustworthy. Him setting this up on his server is just ( I'll show him ) what I can do....ROTFLMBO.... How childlike !!!

I had to point out that you were the one who posted it in the TWA forum. Next time dont be a jerk and call me names. But about the honor and trustworthiness thing.... Stick with the truth and no on can ever show you up as a liar. You been hanging out with vid and d too much I fear. H

Re: Twisted TW - Back up for testing
I'm not sure why you are surprised Traveler. This is a typical Helix move. Why would anyone expect anything different from him?

Re: Twisted TW - Back up for testing
I hope this game is more balanced. But for now, until the new TWA is released, we won't be playing on Traveller's, Vid's or Low Profile's servers.
Playing a TWA against those who have intimate knowledge is akin to playing a sysop on their own server. Why bother?
For some, it's all about the win and nothing else matters. I'm all about playing a fair game.
Let me know when you guys are done tweaking and are ready to truly open it up to the public.

Re: Twisted TW - Back up for testing
No Problem. I'm not on any of those servers & I don't play on my own. I saw the changes made to the one Helix is running. Hummm I wonder who could have done that? Any way as for now those are the only site's to run the latest ver. of it. It's the same for everyone playing it except for the sysop's running them.

The TWA is exactly the same as the one posted by you in the TWA forum. I only made two changes AFTER banging the game, turned on interactive sub-prompt and ran Prom's MakeAnsi script. The point cruncher is making is that its just a little sleazy passing the twa file to a sysop (vid). Who then uses the info to which no one else has access, to go to another server and play the same edit. All the while passing that inside info to the rest of his corp so they have an unfair advantage over every one else playing. So basically if you play On the Road Again on Low Profile's or Traveller's server and Vid or his buddy's are playing the same game just save yourself a bunch of headaches and CBY. Then just wait for the public release so all can share in the On the Road Again twa settings. See: Here are the alien, ship and planet settings for the original twa. Yes in this edit the 8 Lane Hwy does have that funny escape pod

The point is, only the sysops on those servers see those TWA files. So, if anyone else plays who does not have a copy of the TWA, and those who do are playing competitively on each other's servers, that gives them an unfair advantage. So, the big secret with the 200M ship is that it has an awesome pod called the Sink Hole. The Sink Hole does NOT have a pod, at least what from what I've seen. Don't you wish there were some way to lock down a TWA so once the author was finished, you could keep the settings the way you intended them, or at the very least, limit the host from deviating too far from the original?

The TWA issue is also one that players who do not have access to their own TWGS have. This is less of a problem now from what I understand on the licensing for the 2.xx version although I don't know what, if any, limitations are on it. One of the things that several of us have wanted is a way to prevent .TWA tampering. Even with preventing tampering, there is nothing to prevent someone from approximating game settings, and then creating a .TWA of the same name, even with just player access.

Re: Twisted TW - Back up for testing
Seems like an integrated TWA signing system would give what you want, as long as the game displayed the public key of who signed it.

Helix's quote: The point cruncher is making is that its just a little sleazy passing the twa file to a sysop (vid). All the while passing that inside info to the rest of his corp so they have an unfair advantage over every one else playing. Then just wait for the public release so all can share in the On the Road Again twa settings. First being SLEAZY is a lot you do know about. You admit to making a change or 2 or maybe more? Vid, Low and myself are the testers of the TWA. I'll bet the corp that beat us didn't take your very bad advise. And because of you Helix I may never release the good one. I don't care if no-one ever plays it. I know it has been played and liked. When and if I do put it out it will be to whom I know I can trust not to give it out. I think some did post my TWA. I'm told I posted it. Don't remember doing it and I have had to send for new passwords for month's now even John had to set me up a couple of times. Any way there are only 3 sites running the right TWA. Helix is not!!! one of them. Glad he likes it tho but he is just a wannabe.
