There's no harm in exploring it. Like I said, the question I have isn't so much "can it be overcome" as, "is it really worth the trouble".

I am to the point if it will make her shut up about it, make it a toggle and when her server sits empty she can figure out what went wrong.
But I would like her to explain how it will stop duping as stated in the first post?

Roflmao!

I'm not interested. Seems that would be good for sysops running unlimited turn games however. The only thing it's going to block is the relog scripts.

Since my server runs only turn/time limit games, it's not a problem. I don't have bots logged in 24/7.

Still waiting, you made the statement it would prevent duping.... please explain.

So your speaking for all Sysops? Yet the only sysop requesting this is "You". Of course it is possible I missed one.

I was requesting information since Helix suggested this would be the answer. I think he had a different question in mind. :)

Just as an example, if the game detects that a player is operating at too fast a pace, as defined in the editor, it would generate a challenge question. So a normal, at-keys player wouldn't deal with this at all. But a bot would have to pace itself to avoid being too fast or else prove that it's a human at keys. Settings would define what kinds of actions to monitor as well, so if you want to allow certain kinds of automation but limit others, you could do that. That's the basic idea.

As for the suggestion that you would just post the question to the cell phone so you can answer it manually, aside from that being such a pain that I doubt anyone would actually do it for more than a few days until the novelty of saying "I beat the anti-script system" wore off, it's actually not a trivial thing to do. How will you identify the question to know to send it? Does the bot know all TW text to know when something unexpected comes out? Or is TW going to have a triggerable-prompt like "What is your answer to this anti-script question?"

If Cruncher isn't interested in exploring this, I'm not going to put my time into it. I have a lot of things I can be working on. Until I have a gameop who is legitimately interested in trying this out, I'll keep it on ice. I'm not just doing it for kicks.

Exactly. And then it would become redundant with the delays that are already available.

I'm sorry John. But the speed of input could simply mean a player at the keys is running a colonizing script.

A player at the keys does not mean they are playing 100% manually, although they could be.

Yes, I understand that. This is something that would need to be explored to get the right balance. But if it's not something that anyone wants at this time, I could spend that time on other things.

It would definitely break immersion. But it would only be used by those who are so frustrated by the state of the game today that they won't play anyway. It is a drastic measure. And maybe one that would never get used. It wouldn't be the first setting I've put into the game that never gets used. Not everything is a home run. But I'm not afraid to try new things, and I've learned not to put too much stock into my projections of what people will take to or not take to. This community surprises me often enough.
