You better watch out, Jace, because some players may take your post as a challenge, and it's an unfortunate reality that, right now, if players want to disrupt games, they can usually find a way to do it. You're lucky to only have players who abide by the rules of your site. I wish all players were like that. It would make my job a lot easier.

Actually I never had issues on RC when I had it up, and I really don't think most servers have issues unless they are running a truce. The impression that there are a lot of players that want to cause issues is off base from what I've seen in games and from running a server.

There are few that like to travel around and push the limits. But yes most of the servers that have problems are running Truce or Building games. The others are no rules so there is not much to complain about.

The reason I state the facts are that MAYBE the problem is not really a problem. Jace's Night Club would rather keep 6 loyal good players than any misguided, trouble making players. I personally only care that those who play at Jace's Night Club have fun. I could care less about attracting a mass of offensive players. With that said, anyone who reads these posts and consider it a challenge to "mess" with Jace's Night Club server. Is not worth having in the tradewars community. Be better if they found a different game to play. I believe the majority of silent fun game playing people dont even bother with complaining....

But it doesn't take much. And one player with nothing better to do can seem like "a lot of players", unfortunately. I can only base this on reports I get from ops, and from players who actually threaten to be disruptive, whether or not they carry through on that threat.

This is actually one of the reasons I only play turn-limited games. I still itch to log in, but it's good that I can't because I don't want to burn a cloak just to check on my planets. And yeah, I think it's good when hours per day * players per corp is well under 24 hours. That puts a damper on AFK kill scripts.

Re: Ok. I think I'm done..... again.
With some of the new settings, I don't have to "baby-sit" my server. The rules I have are enforced by the game. Low turns, time limit games are not everyone's "cup-o-tea".
Even though my sever's only been up for a few months, I feel I have good traffic. I've had someone comment about the lack of logons when they've looked at my server, and true not everyone logs in at once, and they certainly don't stay logged in all day, the games does not allow that.
I do have a very generous 6 hour time limit, I don't see anyone coming near to using all 6 hours each day.
I'm looking forward to the addition of the traffic logging addon JP has mention as a sysop tool.

Yeah. I run an Unlimited Subzero that's popular. It is my way of knowing if the server is online becuase those players are online 24/7. I have to go read the logs to find out if my turn limited game players have been on or not.

Re: Ok. I think I'm done..... again.
If players tend to gravitate toward sites where they see other players playing, ie, sites running bot-friendly games with squatters online 24/7, then maybe I should just have a display of how many players have been online rather than just who's online right now. Just because players don't tie up nodes all day doesn't mean there isn't good activity. It would be nice to know, if I pop in on a server, that there has been decent activity even if I'm the only one online at that moment.

You also have players that view the "who's online" to see if they can get into a game w/o getting killed or to try and make an invasion. With CLV updates being delayed there is really no other way to make a guess as to what you are running into. Viewing the daily log, esp for an unlim, will give an idea in most cases how active a game is.

This is why I feel it's also important to be able to view the game logs without having to log into the game. I've done this on my website for V1 and I hope to be able to do the same with V2

X is hours, Y is number of players logged on. Display the last 24 hours updating hourly. Maybe another for days of the week?
