 Wow.
Just started looking heavily at what's been created for this game over the years.
I am amazed and shocked. I knew a lot of scripting was going on but my gawd, I had no idea the level it has attained. These aren't scripts, their full blown applications!
Some of this stuff is just pure genius!
There's no way I'm ever going to be able to compete with this. I just wanted to play a few friendly games of twar... I'm going to have to rethink what I'm even doing here.
You know, in the beginning, reaching Prime Evil was something that amazed and awed people. To attain it was a real feat. Now all I gotta do is start a script and come back in a few days. Where's the fun in that?

 Re: Wow.
Yeah. I stepped into one of my games about a week ago, I started WSSM killing a goods figs 15 per sec, completely gridded out, went -4500 in a single day then switched to a World trade script. maybe 8 hrs a day and am already 700k exp. If I let it run around the clock, I'll be Prime at the end of the weekend. I finally got tired of watching the screen scroll by

That's one of the things I like about the newer versions of SWATH... in addition to scripts that appear in the script menu, you can write your own commands that other scripts can call. I have a bunch of ideas, but I haven't felt very inclined to work on them. Maybe if you have some questions, it'll get me thinking about them again.

 Re: Wow.
The game code was designed for players at the keys, typing in manual commands, or sometimes macro's. But with the scripts today, the game play has accelerated in pace, and games that used to take months or days now takes weeks or hours. I've banged subzero games that have been over in less than an hour. And I agree that a player coming into the game today can't really have a fun game playing against others "advanced" scripts. Even if you had a full collection of public stuff. You still have to learn how to use it all effectivly.
I think two things need to happen. We need some public scripters willing to write good stuff, and release it to anybody willing to use it. We also need more (advanced) players willint to take new players under their wing and show them the ropes. I've seen this happen with new players and some have really been of benifit to the game. I'll even stick my neck out and say Kewlbreeze was one of them (still is). I saw him come as a noob, and even though I can't lay any claim to his knowledge of the game, he's very knowlegeable nowdays. (This isn't to start an argument about KB please) Very few players have the patience to keep getting blown up, and keep trying to re-enter as we say they should "to learn". Most will give up and turn their back on the game quickly, and likely NOT encourage their friends.
Has TW changed? Yes! But we can't reverse it and go back to the days of manual entry. So we need to rethink HOW the game is played now, and adapt. JP is doing his best now in my oppinion to make the game a challenge again keeping scripters, and the use of these scripts in mind.

I guess I wasn't running the right WSST script that would dump cash on the planet, or whatever. Knowing this is why I prefer to play low turn, time limit games. And RP, KB does know the game very well, and does teach noobies on Ice-9 all the time, as does Vid. I just had a returning player who wanted to learn script play, so I sent him to Vid. I have nothing against those who prefer to play that style, but everyone in the game must have nearly the same knowledge and scripts and know how to use and modify them. And those of us who don't prefer to play that style need to have games of our own, and I think JP has done a FABULOUS job creating these options for us.

Where's the fun in that? I used to think the same way.... Play games that are suited to u... Ice9 Building games...You can learn the scripts as you play and not get pdropped... Sure you can have top exp and alignment in hours... so play time limit games and low turn games... I guess the key is finding the right game... and once you're ready to try attack scripts step into a kill game..but dont be surprised if u get killed a few times...

I agree, yet a lot of new players don't even have a concept of what games they like. They really need someone to help them. Or at the least point them to a game they wont get shot at.

Unless the game has changed, it is a lot less than 10B that you can carry, say roughly 1/10 of that. It also should take a long time, roughly 4-5 hours, to net that amount depending on the server.

May as well be a Trillion, but I think Comet stated the correct amount at 999,999,999,999. I never saw a Billion before coming back.
