Would anyone enjoy an edit where the only way you can get better ships is by capping them from aliens?

Yeah, that would be fun. Don't we still have the Scorpian to capture, one unique ship to each game. I've seen it done once or twice since returning. I wonder if the same perameters still exsist? The last time I attempted, you could only cap it with a Dreadnaught, and it would not hold in planet IG's. But, that was on the old HVS game.

The only similarity between the HVS Scorpion and the Gold version is the ANSI and description. No behaviors were duplicated. It might be something to consider, but I don't have detailed info on the Scorpion's behavior.

I know that it twarped randomly, converting any figs in the sector to ferrengi figs. Major pain if you had 1M sector figs change. This is the only feature I am certain of, having seen it as recently as last year in a HVS game. Even in the middle of a tunnel with corp figs surrounding the affected sector. Get a message about figs disrupted by unknown source or something.

The others, that I have heard of but not personally experienced:

- As Cruncher said, it can only be capped by a Dreadnaught.

- Photons do not affect it, and are reflected back on whoever launched them.

I don't even mean special magical ships like the Scorpion. More like, the only ships they sell at SD are the Merc and Scout, and maybe some junky warship like a Battleship. Aliens fly everything else, and you have to cap them if you want them.

That would be a good edit. I would play it.

Here's another. You go to SD and 'order' a ship. Depending on it's complexity, it can take days or even a week or two to deliver the product.

I like that idea, they cost more, but you get the factory installed surround sound audio system of your choice :)

I don't remember do you have a server up now too? If not and you want to make the edit, send it to me and I'll put it up for you to play.

I've been mulling this over, and I do think there is a way to do it with the Gold Editor now. I just don't have time until mid December, school break.

I've been working on a different edit. The capabilities of the Gold editor are what gave me this idea.

In the edit I'm working on, I'm going to make hunting Ferrengi ships attractive to reds. They'll have ships slightly better than the Havoc and CF.
