The best part is the moderator of this forum has learned that he doesn't have the power to edit, lock, move, and delete posts on a whim without facing the consequences. So how do you like that for freedom of speech?

should be a stigma attached to having a post acted-upon by
a mod. It's a sign you should have hit preview and reread

This forum should be an easily searchable source of info for
players and twgs operators. I think it was Lonestar who aptly
described this forum as bloated. It is bloated with frivolous
and sometimes petty posts that contain no game play value.
Antagonistic posts should just be deleted before anyone adds
valuable info to the thread...

Talk about anything on your mind, TradeWars or not. But please, post game playing/hosting questions in the appropriate forum, and keep the discussion civil.

It's pretty obvious that the content does not have to be related to Tradewars, does not have to contain valuable information, and does not have to even be on topic. The only rule that was originally set forth in the "Open Discussion" forum is it shouldn't contain smack talk. When a moderator starts deleting posts because someone expresses personal opinion about a topic, then it's inevitable that members are going to complain and eventually leave.

This is JP's forum, and he can decide how he wants to run it, but just remember what a fellow tradewars player once said, "Time tells all tales !"

The key to me, and what I posted in the moderator's forum, is the word "anything". There really isn't a topic for "open" discussion, and even threads with a title have a tendency to move is different directions. The tendency isn't bad unless an individual is on a set agenda to disrupt every thread.

Very few of these posts were off topic or contained smack talk. As you said there is no topic for open discussion, so how can anything be off topic? So unless there is smack talk, the correct thing to do would be of course "Do Nothing"

I understand that you feel like you don't get the respect you deserve and that bothers you.

I feel like if a person is not going to be part of the solution, that person is part of the problem.

Why not request to moderate an unmoderated forum? If I wanted to effect a change in the way the forums are moderated I would do it by example.

Nothing you said changes the description of this forum. If you are going to moderate every post that is "Off Topic" by your terms, then you should talk to JP about changing the description associated with this forum. If YOU aren't part of the the solution, YOU are part of the problem.

You should go to the Admins with your unhappiness. I will continue to moderate Open Discussion the way I have been. I will lock, edit and move posts based on my judgements for as long as I am the moderator of this forum.
