What about simpler changes like on the corporation planet list being able to group planets by type instead of the default sector search..?

or a more simple one ( i think since i have no programming knowledge) of 1 million in the star dock bank instead of 500k and also raising the alignment needed for a commission from 500 to 1k ...

Gold edits can bump the SD bank up to 1M now.

Bank max capacity in the editor is 1,000,000,000, but yeah, only for Gold mode.

Imho things like that should be more sysop-configurable. Especially if John ever does anything with emulating older versions like 1.03D. Things like, should the feds repossess unmanned ships left in fedspace overnight? Should the feds squish any L3 or higher citadels in the MSL's to L2? How many figs is someone allowed to have when logging out in fedspace? Believe it or not, even though it seems like this has been in there forever, fed repossession of unmanned ships in fedspace was only introduced in 2.0WB6 so, in particular, 1.03D didn't have it, but that doesn't matter since you could only have one ship at a time in 1.03D.
Other things like the allignment required for various things, imho, should be left alone. Some scripts might count on certain values. For instance, if a script sees your allignment is 500, it might go to Stardock, p, a, q, then do other stuff. If the allignment requirement were different and the script wasn't paying attention it could get confused when it couldn't buy an ISS, and might even manage to get you fused if it was counting on being able to transwarp into fedspace.

That's the responsibility of script writers. I'm not even sure if any of the popular helpers parse it, but outside the game, if you hit * you get the full listing of game settings.

Yeah, in all the years I've played, I've never seen a Billion Credits before this return. My first game back we had over 300 BILLION! We couldn't spend the interest if we tried!

I am curious as to why there is a great concern that any changes might impact scripters, not just in these instances but in general. From all that I have read (and seen) over the last 10 years scripters have been responsible for 90% of players leaving the game.

Scripters are responsible for ~1% leaving the game (those scripters that have left).

Players choose to leave. Nobody forces them to. People need to learn to take some dang responsibility for their actions.

IMO, scripters are the only reason anyone plays this game at all anymore.

You and I both know that's virtually impossible unless you're making use of the Mega Rob bug....

No. 300 billion is next to impossible (I mean you could, but it'd take a month or two) using mega rob. At 5m per port, that's 60000 port robs. A 30k game with 70% port density would have, at most, 5000 ports that are mega-robbable. That would require 5000 ports to be upgraded to maximum, and robbed for 12 days straight. The time required to successfully megarob that would probably add another 12 days to the equation. The shear cost and magnitude of this problem makes megarob an unlikely approach.

In an unlim or high turns game, a better approach is world or planet SST. I have a planet SST that buys down ore as it goes, hops around a figged grid, handles class 0s and furbing in various ways, is very secure, and has all sorts of safeties. It's very fast, capable of pulling in about 2b an hour, probably more with the new timing settings. 300/2 = 150 people hours. That's 6 days, or 2 people running for 3 days straight. That's very feasible, I've been in games where we've done exactly that (altho usually we buy figs w/ the money instead).

Planet SST is not a bug. Never has been.

It is possible in a building game when you have 1500 planets and are selling 500+ ports off every 3 days over a 9mos+ time frame. But since her first game she was using almost no scripts 300B might be a stretch. But I know the first game I played against her it was no where near close we crushed her. lol
But I was not in that game so I can't say one way or the other.

Best we ever had was 650B and that was in 9 mos, TR, GD, Karl, Beetle & myself if I remember correctly. Mega Robs were not used after the second month unless we needed to burn turns.

Sorry for the slight derail but yea it's do able, but NOT BY HAND
