 I need your logs.
I really need a list of all the messages the game can generate, but I doubt that exists. So I need logs! I only have the 1-node freebie TWGS, so there are lots of messages I can't make it generate. Ideally, I want raw logs including all the Telnet/VT100/ANSI crap. But stripped ASCII-only logs would be great, too. So if you have any logs from finished games, please zip/gzip 'em and post 'em here.
What I need them for:
I've been studying the open source helpers that are out there (mainly Kokua and J-TWAT, both apparently dead projects) and thinking about writing an open lexical specification to aid in future helper development.
I've actually already started on this. I spent the last couple days writing a JFlex extension that makes it easy to generate parser-agnostic lexers... i.e., the lexical specification contains no parser (helper) code, so the lexer becomes a reusable drop-in component. I think my extension is generally useful, so I'm going to put it up on SourceForge. The TW lexer spec will be the example that goes with it.

 Re: I need your logs.
Problem is, text can change, or triggers are dynamic (like player names). A regexp parser would be nice.

 Re: I need your logs.
The rules of a JFlex lexical specification each include a regexp and a piece of code to run when the regexp is matched. That code can access the text that was matched.
I just don't know exactly what the message says when someone warps into your sector, photons you, pods you, hits your figs, etc. I can't set these things up because I can't run two nodes.

What if I set you up as an admin on mine? 100 nodes. never been used, paint doesn't even have a scratch on it?

 Re: I need your logs.
I appreciate the offer, but as you seem to be one of the more active and involved sysops, I may actually want to play on your server.
I got podded yesterday trying to get into Terra and then #SD# trying to get into Stardock in a game on another server with a posted "no blockading Fedspace" rule. The guy who killed me was the only player with any assets to speak of in a 7-day-old game. I hope he's having fun beating himself. Although I kind of want to go back and destroy him. He has way fewer assets than he should after 7 days...

 Re: I need your logs.
I'd suggest you set up your telnet client to save the logs for you, or twx. I used to have daily logs throughout the tournaments i played. but they are gone now.

 Re: I need your logs.
I could create you a private game on the TWGS beta if it would help. I think the best way is just to be able to produce the messages you need. That's even better than having a list of possible messages, I think, because you really need to see what comes across your screen after passing through all of the output filters in TW.
PM me if you want to discuss it.
