Unread post Win $100 in MBN's Fall Tournament!
MBN Fall Tournament!!!

Labor Day weekend marks the beginning of Fall, and MBN will be hosting its first tournament [EDIT]The following weekend.[/EDIT]

The winning team captain will receive $100.00, that's right, a Benjamin Franklin to split with your corpies. No entry fee is required. Email dmc@twfm.net to sign up!

[EDIT]Tournament will begin Friday, September 9th at 8pm Central.[/EDIT]

Now, for the tough questions:

What Edit do you want to play?
How many Traders per corp?
What rules need to be set?
How will the winner be determined?

Ok, I started with Lonestar's TWA, but I made a lot of changes.

Turns: 1500 with a 3 day turn bank.
Time Limit: 4 Hours
Sectors: 30K

Comments and suggestions are welcome.

Okay. You have $100 up for grabs.. I think you'll have a much better game with Soloists (or 2man teams at most), just my opinion.

My suggestion was based on a SOLO setup. so, instead of planets with 7.5mil ORE/FIGS, bring it down to 3.25mil. Note: I could of sworn I typed: Halve, and not Have.. But. Knowing my typing skills, anythings possible.

No free product. means popped planets do not come with and ORE/ORG/EQUIP. In the case of SUBZERO this transialtes to: no ORE WHORing.

Log Viewing. If you know how to read a log, you would be surprised at how much data you can extrapolate. In other words: minimize Data-mining.

The inspiration for my 'setup' was to prevent a perpetual game in which a clear winner would be difficult to determine. In any event. It's a start. I believe that creating large corps and such are going to limit who can actually play. MY guess is you'll only have Boo inc and Krakken-ur-butt.. who will be able to sign up --which alienates Loners like me 8)

You typed Halve, I thought it was a typo.

Good point about the corps with the current lack of players. I think I would still like to have Treo's though. Think you can find two other players to join your corp?

Well, I don't want this to be over in a weekend, but I would like to have a clear winner no later than Thanksgiving, or maybe it needs to be shorter, say two weeks?

I'm a newb at this, so I appreciate your input, and anyone else too...

Doubt you will find me playing another time limit game after this Classic tourney is over.

Last team standing... or you could always do a point system.

ok, how about 2 man corps, no time limit, and 2500 turns?

no time limit,

Key time is over rated, that's what scripts are for.

turns should be based on the # of secs you go with and how long you want it to last.

Some of Ender's favorites. It's hard for me to decide when I really don't know much about these edits.

I'm leaning toward 2 man corps, due to the current lack of players.

as little as possiable, but I want it to be an "honerable" challenge.

Kewlbreeze wrote:

Last team standing is the simpliest method, unless anyone objects.

I had a 4 hour limit in there to prevent 24/7 monitoring, but It doesn't really matter to me

30K sectors. I would like to to last weeks, but not months.

Considering This is your first tournament your putting up I would lean towards pirates since I think anyone that would be playing probably knows the edit. Or what edit do you know?

Dunno that there is really a lack of players, they are all just in hiding. 2’s fine.
MicroBlaster wrote:

Think we say that before every tournament, But you might look back at some of the rules that have been used from prior tournaments if the post are still around.

I always liked it when SG set up a last man standing style, but just as a back up there was some sort of point system in place that would discourage things like turtuling up to cause stalemates.
