BTW. there's no way, what soever, that anyone will recreate the function of the human brain inside a computer, so long as we stick to Physical Linear Memory sturctures. Gonna need something like 4D-Ram.. laff.

Well what is intelligence, exactly? Is it the ability to replicate the human brain? Is it the ability to perform complex tasks? Is it the ability to synthesize human conversation?

It's a hard question to define.

Depending on how we define it, it can be easy to do or very difficult to do. What's awesome is that we're getting closer to the more difficult stuff, getting better at that, as we come to understand it better.

The word 'Intelligence' is a misnomer as far I'm concerned. People have and will spend their entire lives wrestling with a concept that, as you put it, is difficult to define. Instead, we should be speaking purely of the function of the organ we refer to as: the Brain.

I was actually making a reference to the comment made in the Video (found at the link you provided), at about 3:08, where duplicating the function of the brain inside a computer was mentioned --"understand the most complex mystery known to man, and duplicating it on a computer". I believe this was meant irrepsective of any specific 'function'. ie: complex task(s), replicate human speach, etc. Unless I'm mistaken, I believe the goal is to grasp the entire package that is: the Brain. In which case, a non-linear Memory is the only way they'll ever achieve their goal --imo.

Well, trying to duplicate the brain is a tad too ambitious, and might not be the best idea given its flaws. I'd be happy to just understand how to program a computer to better recognize rough patterns.

I don't know what a non-linear memory would be, however a quantum computer would definitely be better fit for genetic algorithms than our current models. Might not be a matter of memory, but rather processing. What we need is better simultaneous processing capability.

My guess is that the intrinsic design of the medium in which the processing occurs will be a major factor. Hence '4D RAM'.
