It's a free country. All you have to do is communicate
politely and you can share whatever you want here. If
you really need a place to vent and carry on in a vulgar
fashion, start your own forum.

Oh wait, you tried that....and yet if I recall correctly...it
was to be completely smack free, wasn't it? Maybe you
should go the other direction...a rant page like Res did...

Options are great. You have an option to start your own
tradewars forum where you can be as vulgar and carefree
as you wish. You have the option to visit this forum and
read to your hearts content. You can post in every forum
once you are a member and sign the ...you know...thingy,
where you agree to abide by forum rules.
Here is the rub. This is a public forum where minors should
be allowed to roam freely. As a public forum, you must
realise that content should be as "family friendly" as possible.

I can't be the only one to point this out, this forum is for
public support for the game. I favor a private section of the
forum that might be screened for minors or something, like
cable TV..where you could smack....but the party line I've
been given is "Keep it clean."

As for the magic wand, you can pm me if you want to know
where that goes...
(c'mon D..you were a mod, and should know that
a mod only has a magic wand in his/her
forum...and No other.)

JP has posted serveral times that he is opposed to the idea.

The reason if I remember correctly was not that smack is bad, but more that a select few could not make their point without out gay bashing / ethnic insults / plain old filthy name calling.

There is nothing wrong with a "Flame Section" to brag or boast about a game where you #SD# a player or how you destroyed a corp in a game. But a few just lack the ability to keep it civil, and ended it for all.

I could be wrong in what I remember that was several months ago, but I know J.P. has publicly stated several occasions he is not interested in having a Smack Section any time soon..... -shrug-

There would be nothing good or productive in a smack talk forum. Any intelligent, mature individual would clearly see a smack talk forum would only lead to problems that would spill over into the other forums.

The problem is simple... and I think I can see what it is such a hot button issue with some people, specifically that select few that seem so adamantly against it, is that I want a smack thread, more players than not (as the votes have continued to show) want a smack thread, and by saying "take your ball and go start your own game" is a bit extreme in my opinion. That doesn’t mean I don’t respect your opinion and your right to have it...

I don’t see how not having a thread for smack talk has stopped the smack talk, would you all like links to the "locked" threads or the "deleted" post where it has been deemed smack?? Things that I was not offended by what so ever were locked, but other post were I started to see much more than I cared for are STILL open....

So we can’t agree that having a place for smack talk and to move smack related threads, or deleting threads and advising of where to take that smack is a good thing??

And lastly hasn’t this line of thinking driven away enough players? Do you need me to name drop the players that have left because of even still active moderators? Maybe not left the game play but have left the boards? Most people don’t have the interest in complaining, they leave, and with them believe it or not, allot of great ideas...

I respect the moderators on this board but you all have a huge opportunity to provide players with a place to vent, even about you, you may not like it, but again as the votes have shown this is the wish of the community. And one last time, as far as smack spewing out... I will post the links right now of the smack related topics that have or have not been locked that are either in the wrong section or have gotten off topic and post haven’t been deleted... do we really all need that??

If you need a place to vent, especially about a mod on this board,
don't you think you should take it to a neutral board?? Start your
own, or support its creation in some way. If there is a real need
for a rant or smack forum, you're providing a public service.
I think it'll be pretty quiet.



We really expected to change policy over a 12-10 majority? Are
you sure you don't want to wait for the landslide of pro-smack
voters to show up?

Help me out again, how is it helpful to the game and its support
to provide a place for name-calling?

Hmm... This isn’t a healthy debate? I don’t see anyone getting attacked, threatened, called racial or other silly names... and yet...

And the users don’t have anything to do with the community? 12 users voted yes, 10 voted no, feedback and debate is going on, so yes this is JP's forum, and frankly I think JP loves to see that people are passionate about this being a part of his forum. Yes I could start another forum, do I want to? No. I want all users to have the OPTION to read spicy content from other members...

No racial slurs
No sexual demining
No threats of real violence
Nothing that is illegal
No posting of user’s real information
No editing by outside moderators except JP and assigned moderator

If you can’t handle the feedback from users about you guys, step down. If user feedback is not appreciated about every aspect of the TradeWars game, support, community, etc. what will go next?

That crazy nasty stuff is in the old Smack forum that's currently closed, you can't get to it right now. Trust me, you wouldn't want to. Lines were crossed.
