That I don't know. He was already head honcho when I came back in '05.

Yeh, he got into a thing where he wanted to ban someone for being out of line in OD. But as he quickly found out, he couldn't do it and there was no support for banning anyone. I think he got pretty frustrated.

Now that I have the site in a place that I am comfortable with, I can handle the maintenance. I don't mind doing that. I just never could before because Eleq or Rick had set things up and I wasn't up to speed on the details. Vulcan actually ran it on his home server for awhile. Now it's on my own hosting service and I'm very familiar with all of the tools available to me there.

Yeh, Vulcan originally had it on his co-loc'd machine. Then he moved stuff to his home box, and it went with it. Kind of funny, actually. I did some of that SQL setup. But if it's now on your own hosting service, that's good news. My only concern is when you're done here and out of time for TW, how do we reach you if stuff gets fubar'd?

Before you go poof, make sure some people here have a way to reach you, jIc. Last year, for example, we got hacked a little and ended up with some nasty stuff on the front page. I told SG, and it was fixed pretty quickly. Need to make sure we have that ironed out.

I'd be happy to mod Open Discussion and take the load off Thrawn so he has time to be the global moderator. :)

SG was always able to reach me when he needed to. Prior to that, yeah, I was pretty unavailable. But like I said, I wasn't in a position to do anything about hackings, etc anyway. At this point, I have a major commitment to the eis sites, including the forum, museum, jumpgate and the TWGS activation/registration database, all running from this server, so I'll be around. Plus, even though I do need to set classic TW aside again sooner or later, I'm working hard to make TW a part of my "day job", and my current employer, 21-6 Productions, wants to see that as well. So I hope I can avoid putting TW entirely on the back burner like I did from 2004-2010.

That would be nice. If you find that you can't tho, please let us know. Real life loves to get in the way of TW.

I'm also fine with taking a bigger role. I've admined other sites before. I don't have anything to protect as a TW member. Even if I reopen my site, if no one plays, its no loss to me.

Thanks, Vader. If Mob needs some helpers, he'll get in touch with you. I appreciate what you've done to help out around here so far.

D, sorry about your decision. I was enjoying your game. I hope that you change your mind sometime and let us know if or when that happens.

Not getting involved with any other facet of the discussion...

I hosted the site cause the current site at the time wasn't working out, and was glad I could help out and keep it going and a sing was a big help at that site till I finally got to learn the program formatting of the site and when earth and I moved it to my home server we could maintain things better, well I know the fiasco with Zen and SG issue should never have happened, it strained SG's and my relationship for a while, but we did mend fences later on.

To be honest that whole mess between me and SG should never have happened, that powerplay got started from some others in the site that caused me and SG to butt heads, which to this day I still regret. That was a time that SG and I could have made the forums really great and well our bickering didn't help. For that I am sorry, because we should both have handled that better, and JP should never had to get involved in that whole mess.

The main thing SG and I wanted is to keep this site going and thriving, at the time I got it we were having major issues and we all knew it. Now it is running well and I am glad JP is involved more and working on things for the site as well as the people he has appointed to run things as well.

Ultimately it is his site, and his rules when it comes down to it. Personally I think the site is running well and hope the current staff keep it going smoothly.

i know there will be differences of opinions from staff and members and sometimes between the staff and so on, just don't let things get the way SG and I let things get.

In all I think SG did a good job with things when he got control on things, he even let me know when the site got hacked and asked how to fix it. Then he did just that.

He did like his mischief at times, we all know that. but in all he loved this game as do I, and like SG I don't want to see anything happen to it either.

I do apologize on how I handled things when SG and I argued and made things, for all. And I do deeply regret the things that happened that hurt the community as a whole, I have learned from that and growned from it, I am still here to help anyone who needs it and if any issues arise to help the staff as well as the members out here as well.

Please don't think that this is just a place to just smack on, it isn't, it is a place for players, sysops and members in general to get information and help, as well as commune with one another.

The one thing I hated was having to ban someone, but I did give them a chance, with at least 3 warnings, then, temp ban for one week, then if I had to temp ban again for a month, then if the person kept up the the disruption then permenant ban. But to do any banning, I hated to have to do that.

But that is up to JP an staff now on how to handle things, I don't know their policy, but I think they have worked something out that will work for them, but I do remember Kemper and Traitor and how easy it was to get banned from Kemper. :D gotta love the old days.

This is my take on things, the site is going to be ran the way the staff and owner sees fit to run it, and that is good enough for me, and I agree with them on any decisions that concern things for the site, and for us all as a whole, we all need to keep in mind that the staff are volunteers and not paid to do this work and somethimes this work is pretty taxing for anyone to do.

My hat goes off to JP and his staff for the work they have done so far and continue to do, and my congrats to mob for his induction to the staff. I think he will be fair in his decisions.

My only regrets and need to apologize for is how I reacted to things when I had control and SG and I had our arguements. This I apologize to JP for and the rest of the comunity for, it should never have happened.

I hope to be able to keep coming back to lend my help and advice to anyone who needs it. I am thinking about coming back to the game, but haven't decided yet on when.

And to JP: is this forum on phpbb2 or phpbb3? If it is phpbb2 I may have some php scripts for you to use on the site to help on things, you are welcome to any scripts I have to help the site out and make your job and your staffs jobs easier.

Vulcan you've been a gentleman and a scholar. (Ive always wanted to say that)

Thanks for all your kind words to me man, and I agree with alot of what you have had to say. We all need to look at this forum as how the world see's this community. When you google search there needs to be eye catching posts and not agruing among people who dont even play the game. Its pointless....one day we can wake up and have no community...then we will only have angry birds.

:)
