Re: SubZero opening on beta server
I've made this round trip mow to and from terra & SD, each time command was to lay one fig, each time I did this it did NOT lay a fig on the mow to Terra, and the return trip I find myself short 23 holds and 25,500 figs.
Very odd.

Re: SubZero opening on beta server
You reset your database, therefor twx didn't recognize where fed space sectors were and tried to lay a fig in fed space. You were probably short holds and fighters when you were done mowing. I'm not sure why it didn't lay a fig in the other sectors, but trying to lay figs in fed space may have messed up the mow script.

Re: SubZero opening on beta server
It's clear from the log where you were getting tossed into the log display:
---
Command [TL=00:00:00]:[12648] (?=Help)? : F <Drop/Take Fighters>
How many fighters do you want defending this sector? 1
Command [TL=00:00:00]:[12648] (?=Help)? : C <Computer> Computer command [TL=00:00:00]:[12648] (?=Help)? D
---
When you attempt to drop the fighter, the next prompt should be "corporate or personal", which the script sends a C for corporate. Without that prompt, the C sends you into computer and you're off script. So the question is, why would that fig drop "corp or personal" message be missing?
One thing that complicates reading these logs is the use of the SPACE to abort output. It's hard to tell when some output is missing because it was aborted, or there just wasn't any output. Was there a message indicating some event when you dropped that fig that kept you from getting the "corp or personal" prompt? I don't know.
Oh, wait. 12648 is FedSpace. So that's why. BigD nailed it, I guess.

Re: SubZero opening on beta server
Yeah, I'm thinking the missing holds and figs are because Capt'n Z took issue with me leaving figs at SD.
The abort display is hiding too much. Grrr...

Re: SubZero opening on beta server
I could certainly disable that for testing purposes. It would slow things down a bit, but we'd have more thorough cap files.

She's aborting display on purpose, you don't need to disable it JP.

However, that might be nice to have as a tedit toggle like sub prompts are on or off. If a sysop chooses to not allow players the option to abort display, that may lend a more natural pacing to the game. But, would all those displays also increase the load on the CPU? A point to ponder.

Cruncher wrote: Aborting display is default, not a setting I've chosen, but yes I do know how to turn it on. Of the script you're using, yes. But not of TW itself. You either use "all keys" or "space." The scripts you are using are using "all keys" but not all do. Cruncher wrote: However, that might be nice to have as a tedit toggle like sub prompts are on or off. LOL Cruncher wrote: But, would all those displays also increase the load on the CPU? A point to ponder. Actually, in the beta, what it would do is cause a delay to be added to the text send. In the wrong places, that would be disastrous. This is why it's important for people to be able to decide for themselves when and what text to abort.

If everyone were forced to play with the exact same displays all I can see happening is bringing more balance to the game. Again, I'm only asking for a tedit toggle.

Cruncher wrote: Disastrous how? Other than messing up some scripts how would it hurt the game? No, it would do a lot more than that. It would change the balance of the game a lot. It would be a horrible scene. Cruncher wrote: If everyone were forced to play with the exact same displays all I can see happening is bringing more balance to the game. Again, I'm only asking for a tedit toggle. If JP is listening, I highly recommend against this kind of toggle. It creates yet another set of options that players won't use, and gives sysops a larger learning curve. Just trust me, it's a setting that nobody will ever want once they see it in action. Sysops included, as no sysop on earth will want to burn that kind of bandwidth for trivial things. If you want to personally not abort displays it's very easy to do. Just switch to cn9 spaces and not use spaces in your macros.

Re: SubZero opening on beta server
You don't need a macro to abort a display.
Manual players type and read slower than a script too. There isn't much you can do about that.
Before there were any helpers, I used to script with qmodem for DOS. I can't really imagine playing without scripting.
Maybe JP can add some of the simpler scripts as game features in a later release.

Re: SubZero opening on beta server
I'm sure the last thing JP wants to do is debug TWX scripts. On this Beta server, let me know if there is something you can't figure out Cruncher and I'll try to help debug.
My scripts are utility scripts, so they aren't timing sensitive, which is really what you're after I think, but I'll login and see if I have any problems.
