The beta's timings are still not done. You would be
best advised to use the standard version instead.

thereverend.org is now downgraded to twgs 1.03 instead of beta 2.00. there is now a 20k ICE preview ready for testing.

here are the draft rules. i'll update this as necessary prior to the game. comments are welcome.

draft rules wrote:
PLAYER GUIDELINES

1 Terminology

GAME = the ICE tournament
SYSOP = gameop, sysop, co-sysop, etc. managing the GAME
SERVER = TWGS server hosting the GAME
PLAYER = a single player account registered in the GAME

2 Accounts

2.1 There shall be no duplicate accounts. This rule shall be enforced by the SYSOP. If a PLAYER legitimately shares an IP address with another PLAYER, both PLAYERS must demonstrate that legitimacy to the satisfaction of the SYSOP prior to the GAME start.

2.2 PLAYERS shall only login to their own account.

2.3 PLAYERS may only join one team and my only act in the best interest of that team. Teams should not collude together to form megacorps; nor should they share significant game data. It is incredibly hard to define megacorping, but you know what it is; so don't split hairs with me on this or I'll not be kind.

3 Conduct

3.1 There shall be no bug use. PLAYERS are prohibited from using flaws in TWGS. Some questionable activities that are permitted include: megarob, buyouts, alien farming, alien capping, exit/enter clearing, g-bonus mothing, and t-menu activity monitoring.

3.2 There shall be no hacking. PLAYERS shall only join corporations consisting of their own teammates. In GAME psychological warfare, supspace eavesdropping, and social engineering is permitted. Obtaining another PLAYER's login information by any means and using it is prohibited.

4 Language

4.1 PLAYERS shall respect the requests of other PLAYERS to refrain from offensive language regarding race, sex, or religion. SYSOPS shall err on the side of the offended PLAYERS if problems persists.

4.2 There shall be no spamming. Spamming is any communication designed to overwhelm another PLAYER or the SERVER with high volume activity.

5 Discipline

5.1 Rule violators will be disciplined by the SYSOP.

5.2 PLAYERS may report GAME irregularities or possible PLAYER cheating to the SYSOP for appropriate action. If a PLAYER suspects cheating, un-edited GAME logs must be provided as evidence or no action will be taken.

5.3 Infractions may be punished by temporary suspension or permanent removal of PLAYERs.

6 Winning

6.1 After 60 days, if more than one team is still contending, the team with the most net kills wins (kills minus deaths). In addition, teams that have captured and held opponent planets with L2+ citadels will be awarded 10 additional kills per planet. Only planets that were created by enemy team members and still claimed corporate at the end of 60 days will be counted. It doesn't matter who initiated the citadel construction; they just have to be L2 or greater by day 60.

6.2 Teams with zero kills cannot claim the win.

{edited} to allow suspension/removal of more than one player (up to the whole corp) for infractions. this is how a major infraction can result in forfeit by a team. i didn't want teams thinking they can sacrifice a single player to obtain a huge advantage.

{edited} to add winning conditions.

{edited} to add a kill bonus for capturing and holding enemy planets.

{edited} to limit the planet bonus to citadel planets only and to clarify that megacorping is disallowed.

{edited} to make make the kill bonus only apply for L2 citadels or greater.

Rev, what moron tries to hold enemy bases in a tourney? You invade, then you blow them up. If anything, the points should be awarded for capping the enemy planets, thats in the log.

the log only tells me that a planet was captured and destroyed. it doesn't tell me that the planet was your enemy's. after the game is over, tedit will tell me who created each planet, and who the current owner is. feel free to destroy the planets you capture - the rules don't say you have to keep them. i'm just offering you 10 kill points for keeping the planets to offset the deaths you spend invading. take it or leave it. just be aware that you should try to keep track of your sdt planets and any other miscellaneous planets you leave discarded around the universe. your opponents may get points for them.

Then go ahead and be the Moron who blows them up and loses out on the extra points. Do you ever stop being a douche bag?

So a losing team creates a 100 empty planets in a de and tells another team where the sector is located before they CBY and that team gets a 1000 points for claiming and holding 100 no cit planets at 60 days. Great. At least we know what people will be doing on day 59 lol

i have an idea - don't play for the stalemate. be the last corp standing after 60 days. play to win outright.
