 Re: SWATH 1.9.6 Released
When running a fast colonizer you would see the text scroll by before and the map etc would update in sync with it. But the scrolling itself took a lot of time and when the fast script was finished, it would continue to scroll for a long time.
In 1.9.6 everything is still in sync but the scrolling is replaced with screen updates every half second approximately if the text speed gets high. This results in that the text can be prossessed faster and you should not be far behind anymore.
So what you see is snapshots of the text buffer. But at high speed it is normally not interesting to see all details as they pass by. You can do a page up to check something out.
About the live fighter hits, I will try to resolve that.

 Re: SWATH 1.9.6 Released
The problem is that line processing is just too slow, and isn't paced at all.

 Re: SWATH 1.9.6 Released
I like the new feature. I use to turn Suppress text output on to run many scripts to prevent that from happening. My new Planet Turbo Casher runs just fine with screen updates.
But haven't had a chance to test it with grid hits

Let me know if there is any other type of flooding left. The problem though is swath needs to read every line to update the database. When I run a fig update, it doesnt update my map because swatch seems to skip so much. Did you say it was configurable? If so, how do I turn off the skipping? H

H My understanding was he is considering making it an option. Probably an update 1.9.7 or maybe Ver 2 ?

 Re: SWATH 1.9.6 Released
Why does Swath 1.9.6 now have some form of delay added to it when playing older versions of TW. Specifically the HVS version of tw. I have had a couple of users mention this so I tested it against twar for windows. I was just running 1 user in swath and another in old twar for windows, twar4win outpaced swath by nearly 5 pair port cycle to swath doing 3 cycles in the High Velocity Version of tw (nt and dos versions).
In TWGS v2 I am getting the opposite effect, tw4win is slower. Obviously you have added something to make it look like twgs v2 is the superior performer, it is not.
I am extreamly disapointed by swath effecting the game play timing by what version of tw is being played. I am not alone in this feeling.

I guessed you missed the part "I have had a couple of users mention" Look. 1.9.6 has a new Buffer capture that Holds the ansi text in buffer to prevent extreme screnn scroll like in turbo sst or a fast planet buydown etc. It May "appear" the game is running slower but it is not. The effect is different for each user because on screen graphic cards and cpu speeds. Stein is working on a user adjustment so each guy can tweak for himself. The software is not running slower for software that hasnt been supported for 15 years than for TWGS. Swath is a TELNET CLIENT with some java programming based "fluff" for TW users. There is no "vast" conspiracy to prevent you from running your old software.

 Re: SWATH 1.9.6 Released
Yes, the high text speed feature will be optional in 1.9.7 and you will be able to adjust the limit.
No, there is nothing in SWATH that adds special delays in older TW versions. There must be some other reason for this.

No, there is nothing in SWATH that adds special delays in older TW versions. There must be some other reason for this. I did think you would program anything specific. Just wanted to relay a few of the users experiences and what I found in a small test. 2 users tried it again last night and verifed it. 3 separate computes, win 7, vista, win xp, local lan connect or remote thru telnet, made no differance all 3 showed a major slow down when playing the HVS tw. From what I see the bbs is sending the info but swath isnt reply fast enough. Hopefully you can get this corrected in your next version.

 Re: SWATH 1.9.6 Released
I have also noticed that SWATH CPU usage jumps around in the 35-90% range wth nothing but alien hits coming in. The 90% seems to coincide with the "freezing" in the main window. I don't have anything that will graph CPU usage for a specific program.

 Re: SWATH 1.9.6 Released
Looks like maybe by clearing the TW Console messages I have eliminated the white text/blue background when a fig hit comes in and the freezing. Won't take long to find out if it happens when the messages have been hitting for a while.
