Unread post Are there ANY PDrop scripts that actually WORK these days?..
I am just coming back to the game after being away from TW for awhile (again, lol) and was wondering if there is any Pdrop scripts that actually pull off a "PDrop".... I'm using my OLD Cherokee, and Alexio scripts and my grids are just disappearing and theres not a d@mn thing i can do about it.

I keep getting the dreaded "Couldn't lock on" message, and i'm getting quite tired of seeing that, but even worse than that is my shrinking grids.... So please guys, if there is any help I can get or advice on how to PDrop these newer, faster scripts, I'd REALLY appreciate it!!!! Thanks in advance

Yes, but you have to know the pattern they're using. If they're gridding
correctly you won't be able to pdrop them at all.

Direct pdrops almost never works these days. Adj is usually the key,
but only if they're gridding in a way that lets it work.

These days I see a combination of photon and holokill scripts used in unlimited games to fight grid wars. Pdrops are really only good against n00bs or people with no sense.

Ok... so are you telling me that I actually have to wait until someone is in the sector adjacent to mine to drop a planet on them... wow, the game sure has changed.... again, lol.

Helix, are there any scripts that you would suggest for me to use (and the links to where I could find them) in my quest to get these new style "Grid Killers". I know there is something that gets these guys because when I login to a game they stop grid killing and wait for a while, the kill one or two figs to see if you can get them or not. Then after they are sure that you can't, they go "full-on" grid killing, lol.

And who is the new Top Gun as far as making the better tools (scripts) these days?

You didn't say but you are speaking of an unlim?

If they are using a limpet tracking twarp gridder and gridding under personal limps as the public twarp gridders require and they are gridding in safe mode then u have zero chance of hitting them barring major lag or a script error.

This is why unlim's are old hat.

If they are not scrubbing properly then a Ldrop will get them within a few minutes.

(Ldrop sit in sector sending "k2" and looking for the moving active limpet)

A Minedrop script will also work IF they are jumping on YOUR mines/limpets PRIOR to hitting a fig.
i.e. Unsafe gridding mode.
You will burn more gas with this.
(Minedrop ignores fighits and jumps on mine/limpet messages only)

A photon kill scripts will not work in any consistent way as any chance of a kill will require blind macro sector enter and macro attack unless the gridding script has no saveme call in it. I haven't looked at the public gridders so they may work against those. You will have to ask the unlim players here.

A very fast ping will help you there. Anything more than 150 and I wouldn't get your hopes up for a kill.

Lonestar has a foton kill thats called LSO.zip i believe...get the lonestar pack and check it out.

There should be an ldrop and minedrop in Mombot....which u should have...if not then get it right away as it is the new Starter pack of scripts u should have.

Good Hunting!

It may have worked this time, on that script, but there are several ways to grid that could change the senario next time.

A few ways to grid:

1) Mow or straight line gridding. (Adjacent pdrop or adjacent ptorp)
2) L5 or greater planet gridding. (Surround anticipation, or prelock)
3) Straight line surround gridding (Very easy to stop - Adjacent pdrop, adjacent ptorp, surround anticipation, or prelock)
4) Random jump surround gridding (Adjacent ptorp w/good ping, surround anticipation)
5) Random jump single hit gridding (Probably the hardest to stop but uses a lot of grid turns - Adjacent ptorp w/good ping)

A few notes:

If this is an unlimited turn game you'll have to get creative to get a kill. (Prelock/citkill, adjacent pdrop/holokill, adjacent pdrop/pgrid/saveme, adjacent pdrop/surround, ect.)
Prelocks with a pwarp delay often work for planet gridding if you can see a pattern. (Limpets can be a plus with this pattern because they usually try to clear them.)

Thanks PH, will look for the advised sripts, just have to find some of the newer stuff.... what happened to the "GrimyTrader" site... that site was great to get scripts from and now i keep getting that "Error" code when i try to go there.

Are there any other places besides the Nav Haz Junction to find the newer stuff. And my last point.. I usually only play Solo's or in 2 to 3 to a Corps games (but still as a Solo) so is MoMbot something i should try out and is it something a solo can make good use of, I hear raving reviews for it but the reviews always come from people that corps with a lot of others.

It all depends on how their gridding.

In a turns game, you basically just fire torps in slightly
creative ways. This way you take their turns with a minimum
of risk to yourself, and just go for the kill when the better
options present.

In an unlim, torping is next to useless. So you pretty much
have to go for the kill.

If they're just mowing around, adjacent pdrop works pretty
well, and anticipation pdrop works when that doesn't. But
if they're using an unlim gridder, then things get tricky.
You've got to figure out the pattern, the weaknesses in it,
and target those weaknesses.

You can self bot your self to take advantage to the scripts that come with it.

Other than navhaz there is helix's website and Archy's website hosting some scripts.

All of Grimy Traders scripts are at navhav/helix's site

Some stuff gets posted here in the script section either in TS format or as a zip file attached to a post

You will find plenty of attack scripts in mombot to keep u busy for a while and u need Mombot to play with other at all now. Stbot is not used anymore.

We have a Halloween turny coming up shortly and there may still be spots open so contact Space Ghost/Sing or Kewlbreeze to see about a spot. You will get to play with about 30 other players and get all the help u need to get up to speed. Skill level in these big team games is not an issue so dont worry about that

Will definitely remember this stuff, Thank you ALL for the great advice!
