You've strayed too far off the path, and you're no longer playing TradeWars, really. Myself and I'm sure others would enjoy playing the game we fell in love with in the 90's again. Trade hugs as you call it what I think about the builders games now.


what lingo here is hard to figure out? plock? youve used it yourself for a minute. AFK? isnt that your whole problem?
who are you to tell us weve strayed from the path? the last time i checked it says tradewars when i log in.
now, if the time limit gets fixed then the afk scripts will stop some. this is being done. but you still have to try to modify the game more. heres a question- is changing a bunch of stuff willy nilly just to see what happens going to make the game more or less like it was? simple answer is less. but stay on your crusade.
theres a game rebang right now, for a beginner/moderate player. scripts arent welcome. whose playing? how many times have they asked for more players now? what about your old school edit on the beta? whos there? does this register at all? of course not.

I saw it, 2500 turns, super planet one dupe allowed. – Too easy.

So, OK... sub-prompts off will put a stop to plock? That's helpful to know.

What about if I asked JP to put a toggle that would lock animation on? With animation locked on that would give the planet movement some pacing, as well as t-warp ships. I’m sure some scripts like those to SD shop would have to be modified. Can you think of anything else that may get messed up if we left animation on, besides the kill scripts?

I think I saw somewhere that someone said scripters don’t like aliens. So if we had aliens set aggressive to grid bust, which may be an option to use, once the new beta is on wide release that is with the alien behavior fixes. That would also mean the Alien Home worlds would have to be edited to withstand capture.

I truly am looking for some settings that may work without having to have sysop intervention or babysitting of the games.


Aggressive aliens - depends on the rest of the edit. Right conditions, I kinda like aliens and outcashing (or staying pretty close to) a red. Man I like that script! Turn it on, walk away, come back a while later and then look for blues or reds to kill. No need to colo, just kill.

This is an easy fix, you are over thinking it. Post the TW version YOU played on in the 90's and the TW settings YOU used in the 90's. I happen to know that 3 or 4 sysops that still host TW as a BBS Door. We get one of them to host a game for you and your 3-5 Old School friends from facebook and everyone is happy.
