When the larger BOTE tournaments were held, the player base was about 20 times the size it is now, therefor producing a larger segment of players that would play in games with stock settings. Today the majority of the players are attracted to games with more edits, larger universes, and higher turns. Todays players may not fit into the "Elite" group, but I'd love to see the best players of that time play a tournamanet against a corp made up of todays best players.

Thats true but there was a third team already, they backed out at the last minute. Too bad for the others.

Yes, but Boo Inc. has a full corp and we don't so it would have been pretty easy for them to play. Regardless Boo Inc. decided not to play for their own reasons and we've withdrawn for our reasons. Let's leave it at that.

WHY? we never signed up for this tourny nor were we invited by any servers to represent them..As *i* would only play for 1 or 2 servers *i* would also only play *on* 1 or 2 servers,,and *i* would only play with 1 of 2 different moderators and or hosts.

The past is the past..and it stays in the past but the best way not to repeate the problems of the past is to NOT repeate the Actions of the past that led to the problem. If the game was being played on a nuetral server with a neutral host(sorry RP) with a mod my team would probably be playing.but that is not the case. It's not even being played by the rules it actually posted. So i will pass and ill say it again...Good luck to the players the host and the Moderator. I wish you no Ill will regardless of my personal feelings towards this game and its host.And i hope everyone has a great Game. BigD your not in the same situation as Boo! inc.You signed up and recruited players to the point that you had a full team....then after reconsideration you withdrew.. I dont hold that against you or your corpies...i just thought it was disappointing that the game went to a 2 team format.Im sure when RP announced this game he knew *i* wouldnt be playing on his server. Or maybe the intent was to try and force me to do so and make me eat crow...Or further maybe this was planned as the one way they could get me to not play bote. Because short of RP hosting it or being involved i probably would of played.

Im happy that someone else decided to step up and promote and host a game. Im just plain tired of doing it ALL the time and welcome anyone who can get teams to sign up and play the game. I obviously am not that guy anymore and I'm cool with that. I still believe what i believe. Im just happy to sit back and let those beliefs be proven or disproven. Dont get me wrong i wish RP would of made his own tournament and promoted it. But thats his decision to not promote a Tourny of his own.

lastly you can try and bring Boo! inc. into every comment you have about this game if thats what you choose to do... But With no malice I simply choose not to participate this year. I think you would be better off directing your remarks to individuals on the corp and not the corp as a whole..((ie:try to keep it between you and helix)) And in case any of this comes off badly to you BigD please know thats not my intent.
As it stands this tourny is now a very sad thing for me personally. This is the first time in the History of the BOTE i wasnt asked to be involved in The planning and The Promoting of The BOTE and i honestly fear i will never be involved in it again. I'm sure some of you will make jokes and/ or make fun so...try to remember this is in Open Discussion.

I was aware of your feelings about playing on my server, but I did say anybody with codes, and you do hold them, therefore you were always eligible to enter a team, and I would have always allowed you and your team to play. I see you've entered, so this is now really a non issue anyways. I never pressured you to play, nor was it ever my attention to make you "eat crow" I welcome your participation in this game. You and your team will be treated without prejudice. This is also why I had the foresight to use a separate moderator.

I've actually been trying to get this off the ground since February. Remember when you found that "removed" post by me long ago? This was it. And I've been watching for an opportunity to squeeze it in between your tournament after tournament ever since. I never wanted to compete one of my tournaments against one of yours. It was out of respect I pulled mine, and waited. I have to admit that my first attempt was twofold; I wanted to prove I can host a successful game, and I took some pleasure in the fact that you so disapproved in my running it. Well, I screwed up and didn't recover that time. But this time, it's simply about hosting the game. I posted, and expected to be instantly flamed by you, but you didn't, and I say thank you for that. It was a pleasant surprise. Nobody else was continuing the tradition, and I didn't want to see it die. My interest in this game purely proving I can host a clean fun game on my own. I hope when all is said and done we can consider your beliefs disproven.
I'm sorry you feel excluded from the planning phase of this game. I guess in looking into the history of it, I can see you've been involved, and why you might feel that way. It was never my intention to make you feel excluded, or make a mockery of this particular tournament. Maybe you should feel proud that something you've worked hard at has generated enough interest to continue. As I said before, nobody stepped up, so I took it over myself. I'd love to continue to host this game. This particular game I wanted to prove to myself if nothing else that I can plan, host, and execute a tournament, standing on my own two feet without a prop. Future games I host, if it's BOTE or any other, I welcome your input.
I've made good friends via Tradewars. I speak with many current and non-current players on a regular basis. I thought I had a friend like that with you SG. Our public arguments here have had effects on the player base as well. Some agree with me and my stance at the time, others agree with you. That's normal but I'm ready to bury the hatchet if you are. Either way I wish everybody entered into this tournament a good game.
