 Long SDT/SST runs vs Bust-bust-bust
I'm sure all of you red players have your share of days where you might have one long SST or SDT run without a bust..then you might have a day where you go bust-bust-bust-bust-bust-bust- in just a few hundred turns.
Last week I was trying out various SST scripts on my local machine. I had a run that lasted me 1100 turns. I was beginning to wonder if that would ever end before my turns run out. I did bust with about 100 turns left. It was a nice long run.
Then the very next day, I was like bust-bust-bust-bust-bust-bust-bust-bust. God knows how many furbs I blew up that day and I still had half a days turns to go yet.
The last couple days, I was doing buydowns and had no problems with megarobs - except for getting busted doing a megarob right in my home base - on 2 consecutive days in the same sector. As of now, about $8.3 million is sitting in that port. If I do another buydown tonight and get busted once again in another megarob attempt, I'll throw my computer out the window - lol. I found it funny that I am successful in megarobs in open space, but at my home port, I'm busted twice in two days.
How about the rest of you? Do you have stories to share about long cashing runs followed by bust after bust?

i have an old sdt script that came from the Black Knights....it circumnavigates the busts in trade wars....insted of stealing a full 250 holds it must be set to 249 holds.....then for good juju/ mojo you must sacrifice 1 goat to the bust gods......but what ever you do u cannot..and this is and absolute......mix the lime with the coconut and drink it all up.....Say doctor

I was cleaning out Smack and moved this topic to Scripts by mistake. If MD or ElderProphet want to move it back, that would be great. Sorry for the mix up.

Cool... Maybe my posts won't get deleted here. Can't imagine why it was deleted before instead of the thread being moved back to open discussion, because my post was related to the topic at hand just as much as any other post in this thread. As a matter of fact, I replaced the post with the exact wording above.
Edit: On 2nd thought, I'm thinking that when a thread is moved, that some posts in that thread are sometimes lost. Can't imagine EP deleting a post with no more reason than that.

I moved the posts, and I didn't delete any. My guess would be I moved it at the same time you posted and it was lost in the shuffle. MD

Re: Long SDT/SST runs vs Bust-bust-bust
I've had really long runs - 5-10M credits fairly often in unlims, but I have also experienced the constant bust cycles. Sometimes you bust a lot - long run - then the bust cycle starts again. Most runs are in the 1 to 2M range which probably equates to what Traitor wrote on TW-Cabal - 1:50 bust ratio.
[Edit] I think I will modify the steal script I have to capture the longest run by steals and credits for the heck of it. [/Edit]

If you plot steals day by day, you'll find that some days do seem to experience higher rates. And there seems to be a connection with speed, too, but a lot of that is simply the fact that fewer steals means fewer busts. There's also the "partial holds" problem. If you're stealing at or less than the holds you have, then the traditional steal ratio seems to have issues. My red scripts automatically add a point to the steal ratio to help w/ this, and it does seem to help on average. But at the end of it, you're still going to bust.

Re: Long SDT/SST runs vs Bust-bust-bust
I don't mind busting. That's part of the game. But sometimes it does get frustrating when I have endless busts one day and some long runs with only one or two busts another day.
I'm thinking on the days I get the long runs, the port authorities are in the back room playing some poker and don't give a crap that people are stealing stuff and the days I do get a lot of busts, the Feds are cracking down hard - lol.
At least I know I'm not alone. Thanks :)

Re: Long SDT/SST runs vs Bust-bust-bust
one time when i was a teenager i went into a liquor store to try to get some beer. when i went in there was no one in the store it looked like, but i could smeel weed from the back. i crept around and grabbed some bottles as quietly as i could. when i made it to the door i heard this convo- "i think i heard something up front" "*% man youre stoned!"
yay for not busting
