 Jumpgate does it work?
John Pritchett wrote: Jumpgate is ready to go. Anyone who wants to have their site listed on an active site list can simply click a checkbox on the server. Functionality is minimal for now, nothing as nice as what Eleq has done with his TWGS list. But once the basic list is in place, we can work on figuring out the best features so Jumpgate can become a great tool for promoting the game, providing games for both newby/old-school players and modern hard-core players. And with the new settings planned to promote a less hard-core, more limited style of play, I anticipate the larger public games supporting those games alongside the hard-core games. When we get there, I think we'll have the best possible scenario where the game appeals to a more broad base than it currently does. If this has changed.... then can someone tell Me and any others how we can use it and what it is good for? Lets try again. Helix wrote: TWGS10300.EXE 3,267,741 bytes
This is newest version available and I dont think its jumpgate.

If this has changed.... then can someone tell Me and any others how we can use it and what it is good for? From what I understand, it's going to be sort of like what Eleq has now on HomeSector. Right now it's not that fancy, so I'm told. I've not seen it yet. So, every sysop with a public server wishing to join the Jumpgate network can and this will somehow pull the info from games in progess so players can choose a game to play. Maybe JP can elaborate better or we can just keep an eye on his updates on the beta page for more information. And let him keep working. Thank you Cruncher for you input.

That is the old version which does not have jumpgate. The latest revision I have is TWGS10306.EXE, which does not have jumpgate functional yet. I have not heard from JP when it will actually become active.

That's only because Daala and I are one of the Beta testers, so we know exactly what revisions are where, what has been released, etc.

Just wondered if he was releasing beta's often or changing several things before they are released for testing. The last Beta, which is TWGS10306 was sent to us on 11-Jun-2010. I have not had a chance to review the revision sheet for in-game, but we have been testing the Admin/GUI side mostly. The admin side now allows games to be created/ rebanged/marked active/marked inactive without stopping the TWGS. These functions are now available in both the GUI AND via telnet (admin port) which is a nice addition for the SysOps IMO. I'm certain they will appreciate that as much as we have. You can also work with the mail in a more efficient manner, as the mail now goes into a mail folder in each game and is separated into a single file for each user. If for some reason someone's mail file is huge, you can delete it now without affecting the game or others. We have given the beta a good work-over with the mail bug issue and so far no bloated mail or anything unusual has appeared. It appears the mail bug has been fully resolved. When I have more information, I'd be happy to keep you posted.
