How do I post in the game rebangs section?
I have started playing tradewars again and have decided to put my server back online. How do I post in the Game Rebang forums here?
Thanks, Doug Entreri

Thanks, Doug Entreri hi doug! welcome back to tradewars.....All posts are subject to a screening for the first 5 posts after that you wont have any problem..I will move your class to sysop and you will be able to post in Game Rebangs...Please note only sysops can post in rebangs.

Thanks, Doug Entreri You have to know the super, duper, secret password. hehe. Naw, welcome to the world of sysops. If you need help just post your questions and we will see what we can do to help you out. BTW, take a before and after picture 3 months apart and I'm sure you'll notice less hair in the after picture.

Thanks guys.
I haven't played tradewars since 2003 and just jumped into a game over at vid kids server. I had forgotten how fun this game is. Years ago I purchased a registration for TWGS so I got it up and running since I had an extra computer and a decent internet connection.
Server is a little old it's a dual processor 800Mhz PIII with 1GB or memory. Running TWGS under wine on debian linux. It seems to be doing ok.

twgs.entreri.com:2002 Is it stable under wine? I've tried that, it crashes and dies ever-so-often taking with it anything not written to disk. Seems to work fine under vbox tho, my next server upgrade will have twgs under vbox, that way I can ditch messy file sharing stuff in XP. Do the tw2002.exe processes also seem stable under wine? Did you have to reconfig any of the DLLs? 800mhz will be fine until ppl come in running scripts, then you might see some issues. Aliens will also wear on it. 1gb of ram is plenty for all weather, would take 100 users (or more) to hit that.

I am not sure what I should be looking for though. The server has been running for a couple of days straight. I log in a couple of times a day to check it and a friend started to play there. I haven't had a crash yet. Quote: Did you have to reconfig any of the DLLs? Nothing reconfigured. I just installed debian-lenny, then wine, then twgs and everything worked.

That's been another issue I've had, things that work in 1.01 might not work in the 1.1.3 series. But things that work in the 1.3 might not work in 1.01. So you end up trying to determine the optimal version. doug wrote: Nothing reconfigured. I just installed debian-lenny, then wine, then twgs and everything worked. Are you running it under default settings or do you have settings specifically for twgs? winecfg -> applications, is there an entry for twgs? I ask because the default settings actually override some of the DLLs, while if you create a new entry it won't unless you add them.

Re: How do I post in the game rebangs section?
well I spoke to soon about how well everything was working under wine.
I opened the server up to the public yesterday, banged some new games and a couple of players started. Then everything crashed.
I got the games files backed up and am installing windows 2k now. Wish I had a legal copy of xp, but I don't only a legal copy of 2k, for now we'll see how it does.
