Yep Swath is down. I can't connect either. Even www.Swath.net is off-line. Guess I'll have to dust off Zoc

 Re: Swath Down ?
Hmm I was actually considering buying swath.. glad this happened during the free trial, I had no idea the software won't work without their authentication server.
So where does this leave everyone who paid for swath when they decide to stop supporting it for good and it never works again?
Seems a little excessive for copy protection on something like this, especially since it screws all the customers on something they paid for just to stop others from using it for free.

 Re: Swath Down ?
Well, a while back the people in charge of Swath said that if they ever stopped supporting Swath that they would release a final version that didn't require authentication. I, for one, want it in writing before I purchase the software tho. Just my opinioin.

 Re: Swath Down ?
I have only had it not work 2 times in 3 years and it is worth the $26. The one day without swath is not a show stopper for me as I can just flip to Kevterm for a day. I would not hold off buying it for this rare instance.

Rare instance? Worth the $? Hmmm check out the the thread that got moved and the accusations that the Swath Support team had to resort to; to try and calm an irate customer. OH wait if you don't know the secret handshake you won't be able to see that thread as it got moved to smack and we want to hide our "smack" from the unwashed masses.
This is why I disliked the thread being moved.
But who am I? Just a customer of swath that hasn't gotten my $ worth. (Opinion)

 Re: Swath Down ?
I did read the thread and I don't agree, it is worth the money I paid and I have always gotten a response. Sorry you had a bad time with their support, but I deal with small companies all the time. I have learned to be patient and we spend more than $26 add about 5 0's on the end and still same issue.

Just in case anyone didnt see the other threads...BTW only Maniac knows the Secret Handshake.he keeps offering to show me though Good Job SG Now can you tell me why a potential customer of swath cannot see both sides of the SWATH issue without registering. A potential customer of swath will only see that there are satisfied customers of swath unless he/she registers. hmnmm only allowing one side of a story unless you jump through a bunch of hoops what does that sound like?

Also important to note i didnt move it there either. I did however lock the Smack Talk Forum to Registered Users. I also like to point out to you that if you would have done things in a civil manner maybe you wouldnt have had your thread moved at all...But hey what do i know...I dont even OWN a Copy of SWATH.

 Re: Swath Down ?
I guess they cant see both sides 'cause the guy on the other side started badmouthing SWATH instead of asking for help. Too bad, it was a good thread.
Just do a forum search on swath and there are plenty of examples of the authentication issue, and plenty of examples of good support.

 Re: Swath Down ?
Ok 2 times in 3 years I could not use swath for a grand total of 15 hours but was available 26,265 hours over the same time frame. For my money I am a 100% satisfied customer I only posted here since their website was down as well. This was an alternative method of letting them know since they may not have been aware if they were not receiving e-mails. If memory serves me correctly 1.9.4 would not work for you for 2 weeks but 1.8.3 was still available for use so you were not shut completely out without a method of using the software that you paid for. I think that covers it and I understand your frustration, my personal opinion is you made a mountain out of a mole hill. It is not like Swath caused your system to exploded into a million tiny pieces or cause your 401K to drop to $10. It was $26 and for what is does with almost no alternative options it is worth every cent I paid. I have had hours of enjoyment using this software and recommend it to anyone playing. Is it perfect .... NOPE .... is Tradewars Perfect ... NOPE, but at least Swath is providing upgrades
