 Comprehensive List of Edits?
I'm wondering if there is any comprehensive list of common edits for TW?
For instance, I always see bangs of Star Wars, Star Trek, Subzero, Moo2, Halo, etc etc... but I have no clue what all these edits include. Obviously, some of these edits vary a bit from one sysop to another or whatever, but generally speaking, I assume that all Subzero edits are relatively similar to one another, all Pirates edits are similar, and so on.
It would be great if there could be a post (maybe sticky) listing all the various popular edits, and the key game settings. It would make it so much easier for players to find the types of games they are interested when the rebangs are announced in that forum.
And yes, I know I could simply log into every game and every edit and check them out... but I think it would be helpful to the general TW community if such a list were compiled.

 Re: Comprehensive List of Edits?
There is a database project that has a lot of the edits. The main problem that you will run into is that some Ops change the edit and what you think you are getting isn't there. A lot of very good edits have been butchered and still retain the same name.
The best bet on game information is for the op to run a script that reveals the game information. If you search for bangs I did on RiverCity then you will see some of the information that I am talking about.
Some Ops will not reveal their edits as if they are some great secret which is a disservice to the players I think. It gives a major advantage to people who have played the edit before. Typically you play the game and collect the information so you will have it in the future on these sites.

 Re: Comprehensive List of Edits?
There is a list here: TWA Database ProjectEvery one of these edits came from the authors site [Vader, Big D, Vulcan's Forge, etc] or some other reputable place. None of them have been changed by me except that they were loaded into a twgs, rebanged, and the game info pulled from them. This list is not comprehensive (too many great edits have come out since version 1.0) Edit makers like prom, Thrawn, and Vader haven't made their newer edits publicly available. You can check the game settings for each one. If there are any ansi files for ships and planets included with the edit they are in the zip and should be copied to the Game\ANSI directory. Any one can have input into the Edits list, if you find some discrepancies please PM me and I will check it out. Helix

We also have a list of edits, albeit most in the list are created by ourselves. I have posted the edits along with the proGameInfo HTML file, a description file for use with the TWGS, and forum code in the archive for each edit. Our list is located at: http://www.outpost-4.com/tradewars and locate OP4 TW Academy Menu on the left panel, then click TWA-Library link. As we come across edits, we ask the creators if we may post and once we have their permission, we post them to the list.

 Re: Comprehensive List of Edits?
Someday, I'll put my site back up. I had nearly 100 edits up at one time.

 Re: Comprehensive List of Edits?
I need to buy a new router and then find someone to install it. Also, putting that edit info up was very time consuming. Someday, maybe I'll have some of that again.

Helix Absolutely. Happy to have them added to your TWA Database project. As I mentioned, I put together the TWA, a forum post, an HTML file using proGameInfo, and a description for the DescFile the TWGS uses. All the Op's have to do is modify the game letter to whatever letter they are using. Although our edits are version 1, I will be working on the next release of them, which will have new ansi screens for the ships, etc. Lonestar wrote: Great selection there Thrawn. gonna put a unch of them on my TWGS (Prob all low turn edits) Thanks. Daala and I worked on them together. It's nice to do the husband/wife team of creating games and such. Hopefully others will like them. Feel free to use them or modify them to your liking.

 Re: Comprehensive List of Edits?
I copied the text of your edit page so I get the creator of the edits and the settings right this time In addition to the settings, aliens, planets and ships that are pulled by the tool I use, I will keep your files as well in the zip. Helix
