In that case, I guess you are also suggesting that JP had ship and planet buyouts in mind as an acceptable strategy? If your answer to this one is yes, then I will certainly email him...

Okay, well what I was saying is that wasn't very smart of the op. I don't know the details of the trick, but if I was an op I would be very suspicious of abnormal requests, and would get the opinion of more than one corp (preferably ALL corps...).

I think I can handle this ;)

They are asking for a SysOp solution ....
I as a sysop would write a script that would handle that easily ...
When a game gets to say 90% planet buyout ..
have a sysop script check for planets that are level 0 and remove them to sector zero
thus removing them from game.
Secondly .. ship buyouts can be handled by Tedit option D - remove derelict spaceships.
What that does is removes all unmanned ships from game.
Yes that would hurt everyone .. but mostly those who are trying to close a game off.

But all in all .. I think the easiest solution is to call a game and rebang ..
Maybe the next one will have a definitive ending , stalemates are just another reason for rebangs.

Maybe more sysops should give defined ending dates.
I post on my server ends when alien planets are taken or players tell me its over
or wait till 100 and I rebang. (I'm flexible normally I do it > day 60 , probably more near day 90)

Just my 2¢

I can't honestly say i asked him if he felt the strategy of ship buyouts ..or planet buyouts were something he planned on or found as acceptable strategy i have asked him why those two items couldnt be unlimited and his reply was that they were to be limited to the size of the universe....lets NOT forget that we are talking about Extreme casses..both buyuts that *I* was apart of were unique ..the first in WTC as FC described from the oppossing teams point of view..that one was unique because it identified buying ships and just leaving them at Dock as personal ships as a problem..that was later fixed...The Second ship buy out the ships were towed to a protected sector..which not only cost credits but Turns as well and it had to be planned out stratigcally. In my opionon the effort of turns and credits and the planning needed lended legitimacy to the strategy.

there were other factors...but im not going to say it was smart..ofcourse it was stupid..even the OP later admitted it..In the end it was my own fault..I picked the OP..Duh

No im not looking for a sysop solution to this one..I am Most happy to live by a No buy Outs rule **I am NOT really a fan of buy outs..but i do understand them and i know how they work..im not scarred to use them IF the Game Permits them...But I'm just as happy to play in games with rules Against them..Ofcourse it goes with out saying that if i use one in a game that decides to create the rule after i already accomplished a buy out..im not gonna be a happy camper.
But all in all .. I think the easiest solution is to call a game and rebang ..
Maybe the next one will have a definitive ending , stalemates are just another reason for rebangs.

to me the definition of a stalemate is..All teams in the game AGREE that neither has a chance to prevail over the other..IF however 2 teams decide they dont want to play no more but the third team doesnt want to quit..to me that isnt a stale mate...Its also not a stalemate because an op says so..its a stalemate (to me) when everyone agrees...Else team up and wipe'm out the the third team then you two can call your stalemate ...All Teams HAVE to Agree on a Stalemate.

Maybe more sysops should give defined ending dates.

YES!!! a Definitve end date and or definitve terms ..wouldnt it be great if this was ALWAYS used??

Agreed, but personally I think it would be nice if Ops specifically mentioned that buyouts ARE allowed (when they announce the rebang), if that's the case, instead of remaining silent on the issue.

And some might disagree but I'd like to see the same thing regarding destruction of stardock. I find it annoying having to worry about whether or not a corp will resort to that, especially since I'd never consider doing it myself.

I wonder if Helix will complain again... I can't honestly argue that this has much to do with scripting, but since I don't know how much further this discussion will go I don't want to bother moving the thread or whatever.

no worries..Helix knows hows to report a post to the forum moderators if he feels he has an issue....luckily he isn't charge of this particular forum..ElderProphet and Mind Dagger are in charge of this particular area..not Helix....

As to what it has to do with scripting? pretty much everything..no one can execute a buyout of either planets or ships and Maintain that buyout With Out Scripts..

Over the years, I'd developed various versions of this file. Its main purpose is a tool to tweak the Qcannon settings to keep you out of my sector. I just remade it and I'll just let it out for use by whoever wants to use it. I haven't spent too much time debugging it. It looks right to me, but, I haven't hand-crunched the numbers to verify every single formula. USE AT YOUR OWN RISK, it's a game, anyways.

I wanted to say thanks for this. I am currently using it and it is amazingly accurate. I love math.

Can I post this on my site for other traders?

Sure. Whatever you want to do with it. Just hope it's useful today as much as I'd used it 'back in the day.

If you couldn't see from the sheet, I think that the Atmospheric settings for Qcannons are a complete waste of time.
