It is with sad regret that both Daala and I announce our taking down the main TWGS. After many enjoyable years of hosting, the computer it ran on finally died. Due to our focus being on running our company, the main TWGS will not be returning any time soon. We may look at reopening it down the road.

We want to thank all of our supporters for the years of encouragement. There were alot of people we received help from to get us where we are, such as Promethius, Singularity, Rev, V'Ger, Elder Prophet, Space Ghost, RP, Traitor, LoneStar, Vid Kid, Big D, and many more.

The site Outpost-4 will remain intact, as well as the TradeWars Academy. We will keep the content updated more frequently, including the tutorials we have been working on. We have a possibility to open our OCS TWGS instead, which runs off our BBS board. We could put a few games in the available slots and make it accessible direct rather than routing through the BBS. Daala and I will discuss it further and keep you posted.

Thanks for all the support. Daala and I really have appreciated all the community.

Thrawn,

I recently brought my server back online. If there were any games currently running that you had a nightly backup of, then I could host it on RogueGalaxy. Just a thought - let me know.

Thrawn,

I am sorry to hear that and I wish you and Daala both the best of luck.

Sorry to lose such a valuable resource.

I would also like to offer to host any of your games that had been backed up as my server has a massive untapped capacity for additional games and players. Let me know if I can help!

We appreciate the support. We will be keeping the site open permanately, but at this time we will not be hosting a TWGS. The machine our TWGS died, and then to make it more interesting my main computer died, which had our backup sets. I have a 4rth computer that houses our BBS and I could put the TWGS on that machine. The downside is that the network connection goes from wired to wireless and I would hate to have packet loss/connection issues for players. Daala and I are going to discuss it and perhaps we'll post a game or two on it to get players to test it for us. If the connection is not good, then that will end our hosting career for a TWGS.

In the meantime, the site remains and all content we have posted remains. Besides, I still have updates to the OCSBot/ScoreKeeper scripts, and we can update our TWA edits we created. We will still be around, and it gives us a chance to actually play together on other servers out there. I'm certain there are players wanting to pod a husband/wife team somewhere ;)

Well after a week of frustration, we got our TWGS reinstalled on a different machine. I'm not too sure how the connection will be, as it goes from wired to wireless connection. Signal appears to be real good, but we'll wait and see. I've instructed our kids not to hold a mirror up by the router or stand in the way from the router to the desk (lol).

We've put a few games on the new installation. Games A,B is reserved for Daala and myself; games C-F are open to the public. We will not be having 25 full slots any longer- too much time to keep track of 25 games.

We apologize to those that play on our site and lost their games. I had to rebuild some of the automated features of our site, plus rewrite our automation core program to adjust for the games we will now have, etc. Hopefully I have not missed anything.

If anyone wants to login and send me some pings, that would be appreciated. Address is still the same-> twgs.outpost-4.com 2002

Thanks for the info Promethius. I originally had put the TWGS on VMWare and noticed it was really slow so I moved it to the host machine. Seems it helped a bit. Hopefully I can get it fine tuned again. I have the connection come in to a wired router, and the wireless router grabs an IP from the wired router for the TWGS system which runs wireless. If it is too bad of a connection, I'll have to run a cable and eliminate the wireless connection to that machine.
