I am working on a new script
but need to know of a way to use

Send TWX_SETUP
SetVar LoginName "UNKNOWN"
Echo LoginName

In other words I'de like to change the LoginName within a script session if possible.

If its not possible I may find a workaround for what I'm doing.
I have an idea in mind and will code that first.

Please help.

I don't believe those constants can be changed, if they can be... I bet EP is the only one who'd know how.

One thing that I would like is to be able to change the addy that TWX connects to through a script. I can see a major issue in being able to do that, but for one script it would be nice.

A workaround would be fairly easy using a custom login script I would think.

setVar $myLogin "Unknown"
saveVar $myLogin

Just have the custom login read the $myLogin if it is not 0, else read LOGINNAME

For this first script , I used the player account ... to harden class0's
everything is good .. but now I'm looking for ways to clear dailies
namely the TWOPENG.DAT file.

That way I'm not giving up the class0 locations.

The script works perfectly in every way , but Sysops will have to clear that file and run extern
and run script again to restore original setting to game before opening it to players.

If I can't find a way to change the loginname , I'll have to do it manually in TWX setup
just to run the next script (asked for by Yop Solo)
to make random planets (trophy planet style game).

So far the framework is ready to finish this last one ... now that the hardener is done.
It was a fun exercise :)

What happens if you just write a blank file to that .DAT file? Or clear it and write a default msg...

Ah , perfect .
Delete the file after the port blowing , then the TWGS will write a fresh one.

That I can code into the script.

Thank you .. I didn't know that the file could be deleted while TWGS was running.
But low and behold .. it sure can.

BTW , editing it is not an easy task , there seems to be a length issue
with the file for it to parse correctly.
