 Re: Who's Tradewars best Killer?
Have to vote for Dizturbed on that. Seen him in action too many times, as a corpie and as an adversary, and his ability to adjust to a game on the fly is the best I've seen. It doesn't hurt that I think I've hit him twice against something on the 20+ side for him against me. Dizturbed is not the alias many know him by, but I think it is the most appropriate alias he could choose.

 Re: Who's Tradewars best Killer?
I have to say outta the choices, I only personally played against or with 2 of them... so Xide and hellcat don't get a fair choice from me... and as Prom said Diz.. but not sure what other handles he used..but I never played him like I did Alex... the nnumber of games played with or against someone is gonna make this choice unless u go by hearsay so it stands to me.. From my view.. its Alex.. by a longshot... also if noobs didn't turn into asses, he was also a good teacher... but I gotta give honorable mention to Dyn.. sing.. what ever handle he uses now...lol

Xanos, Prome , Z, TV, Crosby. All good killers. And they actually take a few mins of thier time to give ya details (gloating!! laff) on how they killed ya and how to avoid it. Joking aside. It's helpful. (getting the creds back would have been helpful too laff) thanx guys.

Never played agasint any of the above --far as I know. I vote for Hollywood. Because he -indirectly & directly- taught me a few tricks that I use to this day.

 Re: Who's Tradewars best Killer?
Laff. While I appreciate the mention, I'm not a killer really... more of a tactician. Sometimes mindless gore is fun, but not beneficial to the corp (altho there are times... hehe).
If you're just looking for crazy, balls to the wall type killers (esp in unlims) there are a lot of names. HC, Alex, Xide, Oz, even nutjobs like Loc (laff) will just blow in and start shooting. Keeps the game fun tho.

 Re: Who's Tradewars best Killer?
they all are good killers.. If they all played in the same time period.. It would be easier to compare. Ive been smacked by them all multiple times.. and have smacked back as well It would be great to play with the good 'old old school' and the good 'new old school' together. I dont know of any new school yet.. is there?

 Re: Who's Tradewars best Killer?
Yes, maybe this is an unfair poll considering many have never played with some of the choices. While there are several good killers around today, I believe some of the players I mentioned, (as far as being a killing machine), were a notch above the rest. I am like Sing, I'm more of a stratagist. But I've played with or against all of these players several times, and I'll be the 1st to admit, I'm no where near Xide or Alexio at being fast on the kill switch. Personally, even tho HellCat was very good, (probably the best at his time period), I think he was surpassed by all the other three choices. There are many today that are good killers, but if you'd ever seen these guys in action, you'd understand that these guys were/are Elite Killing Machines.

 Re: Who's Tradewars best Killer?
IMO, I think speed at the kill button isn't a concern. There are plenty of scripts (move-kill, autokill, etc) that will make you very fast at the actual kill execution. I think when rating ppl we should take in account the changes in scripts over the years that lead to faster kills, and perhaps factor them out. I also think that sometimes a very fast kill execution is a tactical weakness... I've killed an awful lot of ppl w/ lift/warp-in autotriggers over the years that weren't thinking it thru.
My thoughts are... who's got the guts to go in and take out the enemy w/o regards for themselves? Who's got the mindset to keep pressing an advantage? Who's got a killer instinct to recognize when an opportunity is present, and has the ability to press that opportunity? Who can draw the enemy out of their cozy hiding place to bring out such an opportunity? Etc, etc. The best killers will be far beyond "fast at the keys."
For all of that, I've seen different ppl that are good at different elements of all of those. I've got my own strengths on some of those, but have my own weaknesses too, as I suspect do most players.

Sounds like you just described a player under the alias of Baited at least in attacking for the advantage w/o worrying about getting #SD#. I don't know if it was his normal game style, but that is the way he played in one of the corp games. Aggressive, tactical to a point, and just went for it. Good guy to BS with on SS also. I've also noticed that players who learned under Res play a similar method - say what you will about Res, but he was one that would go in firing first and worry about the podding later.

Hehehe, baited. Fun guy to play w/, but I'm not sure I'd say "killer instinct" there. He still around? Never see him on ICQ anymore. But yea, good corpie. Yeh, true enough. There's a few other players that are like that, too. Jester comes to mind, ppl that he taught tend to be very aggressive. *Pokes Loc and Flip (who are both lurking and won't talk, laff)* I think a lot comes down to how you define "best killer."

 Re: Who's Tradewars best Killer?
True. When Hellcat was around, macros were the only thing around at that time. Sure anyone can start a citkill or fedkill script up. I'm not talking about that tho. When it came to a dog fight, usually using L6 planets, Alexio was that quickest thinker at the keys as well as fast. He very seldom put himself in a spot to where the opponant had a shot at him with attack waves or carbo. His movement was so instantanious that I barely had time to scan and he'd be there and have them #SD#'d. Also, Xide one time invaded our planet before I knew he did it. He used 2 ships and 2 ptorps and took our L4 planet with 2 million ore on it. The problem was, we only had 50k figs on it, and each ship held 50k with 2.0 offensive odds. He knew he had just enough figs on his ships to take it. This all took place in the time span of about 2 seconds. Still not sure exactly what happened, but me and Spyhunter were sitting in the sector after he evicted us while he warped our planet out. It was a capture the planet style death match, so needless to say we were out of the game.

Which is why I don't think speed matters when it goes to rank. Quote: He very seldom put himself in a spot to where the opponant had a shot at him with attack waves or carbo. His movement was so instantanious that I barely had time to scan and he'd be there and have them #SD#'d. Uhm... I've killed alex while he was doing exactly that, pgridding around. He was using an autokill trigger, which is a suicidal tactic against someone at-keys. You'd be suprised what plock can do for ya... =). Alex's biggest strength isn't planet to planet, it's ship to ship. He'll sit on a fig, or retreat off something, or whatever to try and get someone to warp in. Quote: This all took place in the time span of about 2 seconds. It was a capture the planet style death match, so needless to say we were out of the game. Sounds like a multi-ship planet capture script. Have one of those somewhere, but it's never been useful. A lot of Xide's speed was due to early scripting in a game where few ppl were used to it. Which goes back to my original point, we should take ppl's play in light of the way the game was played when they played it. It takes creativity to write a helper and think of scripts like that, today... less so, so other things are more important.
