Don't mind Sing, he's just upset because he's a terrible singer and they won't let him come back.

Truce game? Does that mean that people don't fight at all, or just that they don't go crazy with the grid and pdrops and whatnot?

Despite what some people on the forums may think, there is no rules against scripts or things of that ilk in the Ice9 Building Games.

Only rules for the ice9 building games
    1) No Duping
    2) New players get a 30 day amnesty period against base invasions, ship to ship combat elsewhere is always allowed.
    3) A single corp may not control more than 2.5% of sectors with a fig grid (so for a 20k universe, corps can only control 500 sectors.)
    4) No blockades of SD or FedSpace, anything more than 1 toll fig is considered a blockade.
    5) No blowing up SD or Class 0 ports.
    6) No buyouts

Generally speaking, older players will help new players who are not annoying, instead of killing them just cause.
Due to the grid rules, pdrops do happen, but not all the time.
There definitely are fights, invasions, and ship to ship combat, but people tend to pick on people their own size.

Basically, the vibe of the building games can best be described from the ICE9 Website:
Quote:
...our building games are meant to be a small piece of nostalgia that reminds the user of the Golden Age of Tradewars when you dialed up to a bbs, on a 1200 Baud modem, to play on some Commodore 64.An age when community mattered as much as the game.

If you agree with the ideals of this game, take offense when someone kills new players for no particular reason except that they could. In reality I can post all the rules in the world but its the community that makes it happen. If the new player does get squashed but does not quit, help him back on his feet if you can preferably without just giving him assets. If he is actually a new player who has never played, help him learn. Build the community at the same time as you build your game. As so many people have pointed out Trade Wars 2002 includes the word War in the title. No one is telling you you can't attack other players or invade their planets and tunnels. Just try to keep it to the players who are somewhat established in the game and a match for you, that's all. And lastly, for those of you who have heard the term "Don't Poke The Bear," well, if you bother a Bear, he will eat you. If you bother someone much bigger than you in TW, they will eat you too.

It is not the game for everyone by any means, but they are fun.

I may check out the building game V'Ger--but what exactly does that MEAN? I mean, what is and isn't allowed?

V'Ger - I for one am very glad a server like yours exists. I prefer long running games simply because of my personal schedule and inability to have a corp depend on me for more than a few hours a week. Have either of your building games been re-banged in the last few weeks, or can a late arrival get established even now? I guess I am looking for a recommendation as to which one to join or if I should wait for the rebang.

By the way - welcome back Caxis - hope to see you in game sometime!

Thanks
