Ahhh...a return to the good ole days of doing everything in ones power to toe the line of the truce rules. Not that I blame people, but this is why truces of more than an hour suck and why we quit in the first place.

Just don't attack another player and use your time to build and cash until the truce is over. Its really a no brainer. And over 70% of UTW Games are "No Truce / No Rules" anyway. If you and your corpies would like me to run an Unlimited / No Truce / No Rules Game, just ask and I'll be happy to do that for you. Sage ICQ: 268-207-588

 Re: UTW:GAME H:"SUBZERO":20K,UNLIMITED:SAT 7/26
The point of my post was not to bash you, but to make the point that the community as a whole hasnt changed in the 4 years I since I have been really active. In every truce game I have ever played there are a handful of guys (different in every game) who do everything in their power to circumvent the rules. In this particular case it was sitting at an attack prompt until the fighters were down to a point they could afford to attack them and invade a planet out from under another corporation. That situation could very well be seen as game breaking as we spend our creds to take an alien planet while they spend nothing and then they turn around and spend theirs to get the other alien planet. How do you police that? I know there is no easy answer to that and that is why truce games are crap. Your rules state no more than 1 defensive fig in a sector, yet they deploy 1000, etc...there is just no way to please everyone or keep people from disregarding the rules.
As for the bang that would be great, but with my playtime I would be hard pressed to commit and I think people would get tired of it really quickly. However, if you bang a weekly scheduled Deathmatch with the following settings I would try to make it as much as possible. The problem with it is it is a lot of work for the sysop.
1 or 2 hour truce At end of truce time every corp gets 1-3 bill in creds and 1 level 4 planet with say 500k fuel Noone can switch corps after truce. Big ships should be offensive in nature as opposed to defensive no death delay and say death limit of 6 or so. I cant remember the other settings we used to play...any help guys?

Dude, it aint your planet til you move it out of alien space to your home sector. Simple. Until then its anyone's planet.

 Re: UTW:GAME H:"SUBZERO":20K,UNLIMITED:SAT 7/26
Cool rule...so basically I can sit at the fig attack prompt and attack it as soon as they take it. I know it is hard on people who have no comprehension to understand so as "simple" as it may seem to you perhaps a better look should be taken. This is why truce games never work. Someone does something that toes the line. I assume I can blow up my own planet in alien space if someone lands on it too? I mean, it is MY planet after all.
BTW, who are you?

Yes you can do exactly that, as long as you invade it before it is moved out of alien space. If you do it after it is moved, its a truce violation. It seems to me that you were just out played by someone else. Better luck next time.

Cerne A very good reason to also send a string to claim and move the planet when you hit the planet prompt. I think I can guess the person that did that to BC, and will ask him. If I am right, the player and DU used to have some decent battles. If I wanted to nudge him a bit, I would simply say something to the effect of "I bet Alexio's script would do that" (yes, that person is a heck of a lot better scripter/player than I am or probably ever will be).

 Re: UTW:GAME H:"SUBZERO":20K,UNLIMITED:SAT 7/26
I understand that completely. I was sending a string...as was that person. It is just simply another variation of "We cant beat them straight up so lets try to find a way to toe the line..." One of those things that drives people away from the game.
Prom, not to be a jerk, but DU didnt have good games with anyone in unlims. Not when all four were at the keys and playing. Ever. Turns on the other hand, lol, i took some beatdowns.

Furthermore, let me ask you a question:
What happens if he was a tad bit slow and I invaded the planet? It is now my property. Then he invades and moves it a split second later. See the point? I thought so.
And again, who are you?

Funny you bring this up. I think I pulled this move on drwakko in the same server, same edits, and the situation stunk just as bad.I think I did this about 2 years ago. After I did it, it seemed that somebody tried it for the next few games afterwards. I'm inclined to agree with you Bone. Is it lame? Sure, but so is a 3 day truce. Yes, I know. that is all I seem to play in, and I will not deny that. I like the edits of Subzero, and I like taking stuff from people that took days to buildup. As far as the rule of that particular maneuver. The rule was whoever claimed the planet first got to keep it. If it has changed, I do not know about it. All Im saying is that is the way it used to be. I think I tried it again once or twice after that one time with wakko and failed to invade it first. It was one script I did not spend much time making better. Promethius... you made my world sst script faster, and people use your scripts more than they use mine. Then again I do not post my scripts anywhere. As far as being a good player... I rather corp with you because you know what your are doing, you know what needs to be done, you are dependable, and lets face it... your daughter is HOT!!! Dizturbed / Dr Doog

 Re: UTW:GAME H:"SUBZERO":20K,UNLIMITED:SAT 7/26
Again, Doog, I dont blame you for taking advantage of the shortcomings of the truce stuff. Not at all. My point was simply that stuff like that happening makes it not worth playing to me and others. TW has a long history of problems with truce games and the inability to cover every situation. Again, I dont blame you for what you guys did and certainly harbor no ill feelings about the fact you did it. Perhaps we can get Sage to shorten the truce time on that game to a day and I think I could get Alexio back in for a game. Perhaps you could allow Cerne on your team as well so that next time he replies to one of my threads he will be talking about something that concerns him?
