This year is going by so quickly I can't believe it.

I've had it in my mind to host another BOTE game in August or September and figured I'd better start getting signups for it and see if there's any interest.

I've enlisted some help coming up with this years edit with Vader. I've hosted a few new games of his, and they seem to be popular so I asked him to help me with the edit. It's not finished, it's actually just started.

There will be a few rules this game. First and formost is there will be no scripts allowed like buyouts or any other scripts that peg my cpu when in use. Any node I find (and I can view by node) that is running way beyond normal use will be disconnected when I find it, and that user will be given 1 warning not to use it again. If it's in play by that player, or another member of that players team, then the player running it will be disqualified. FInd it in use again, and the team will be disqualified.

There will be no player subs once game starts, no exceptions unless the team captain of each team agrees. I will collect the IP of each player when we start. I will terminate any node I find with a different IP once game has started. I know some of you might have dynamic IP's and I can work that out with you.

The edit will be a time limited, 5k turn, 20k sector game. I'm hoping to get 3-5 teams of 4-5 players each.

Looking for players and team captains both. If nobody signs up for captain, teams will be randomly assigned. If team captains sign up, I'll allow them to pick from the pool in a fair manor. I'm advertising on other boards to attract attention, but honestly don't troll the sites like I used to, so I might not see your signup if you signup elsewhere.

I have a dedicated server for the game, with a dedicated address. My bandwidth is not as good as I had last game, and there might be a few lag issues once in a while as I have one connection and do have to download large files time to time.

I'm hoping I've learned from my mistakes last game, and we can have a fun game this year. Lets get all players involved and prove Tradewars isn't a dead or dying game.

You have got to be kidding???? What in this God's Green Earth you fell you have the Right to change a Time ohonored Game like the BOTE From a Server Represenative Game To a Draft style game ???? Regardless of Who Hosts B.O.T.E. It should stick to the principles of sending Servers to Represent them.....This isnt some Draft Game.....If you wwant to run a Draft Game then Do so But to take a Time Honored tradition of the Very First Tournament and Turn it into some Draft game Dishonors the Very Idea Behind the Battle Of The Elite. Besides all of the Above there is no way in this world YOU should be Hosting B.O.T.E In the past the Winners of the Bote were the Next Hosts Not Some Sysop Who Got caught Cheating From Last Years BOTE....Are You Serious???..I have to go to work now..When i return I will be posting The History of BOTE...Who started it and What it is meant for......

Dont Try Stealing the BOTE RP and Changing its format...It's Not Yours and it doesnt Belong To you.
I do not Claim owership of this Tournment BUT i have been involved With it since its Enception ,,Arranging the Hosts Doing the Promoting ,,,,By Trying to change the Bote to a draft format you are doing a Great injustice to the people Who have won it in the past.And to the People Who CREATED it..This is a Server Tournament And it Doesnt Belong to Runaway Proton or His server....If you want to start a Tournament thats Draft style then Name it something else and Do your best...But dont Trya nd Steal the B.O.T.E and all it stands for....You had your chance at BOTE you Cheated as a Sysop...Now go do your own tournament And let the BOTE try and recover itself.....

I will not fight with anyone about RP's intentions in the First BOTE,,.,I actually believe his Intentions were Good.......However the Road to Hell is Lined with them...He Broke the Rules as a SYSOP. Rename Your Tournament ......Stop trying to Steal and Change B.O.T.E .

I agree SG, but you got to admit at this point in TW's life there will be very few teams signing up. So say team A is from UTW, they fill the 4-5 spots, team B is from MTW and they fill there spots, Team C is from another server but cant find the the 4 or 5th player, so they take on from another one, seems kinda the same as say 4-5 guys sign up and say they are from X server?

On a side note, since you dont have anything against him will you be playing and for what server?

Times honored perhaps, but guess what; this game has evolved from many other time honored traditions. There are those who will argue that scripts are an abomination to the game! As times change, traditions change. I’m not sure there are enough active sites right now to generate and take an interest in this game. Furthermore, the concept of this game, reguardless of tradition, is a “Battle of the Elite”. This games intention is to test the best of the best. I want ALL who want to compete to be able to join. I don’t have time to start to try signing up by site, and find I’ve only got 2 sites willing to send teams, and then figure out how to divide them into more teams.
What am I stealing. Has anybody else stepped up to host a single Tournament game since 2007’s game? My interest in hosting BOTE 2008 is simply this. I want to redeem myself.
SG you yourself came to me about hosting BOTE 2007 and I agreed to do so. I’d had and maybe still have a relationship with you in this game. Truth of the matter is that YOU created the edit, did the advertising, and set up rules for the last game. After I agreed to your ideas you posted that I would host you stood on the sidelines because you wanted to play in that game and it would be a conflict for you to participate in an admin capacity. I respect that stand, but I really didn’t do much more in the last game than trigger it loose, and take the grief from the players, including you.
I’m going to exclude nobody from this game. However SG you yourself told me you wouldn’t be playing another BOTE game when we were planning the last game. I know you’re a man of your word, and wouldn’t want to tarnish your honest reputation. Please don’t plummet to my level and go back on your word.
BOTE is not mine; it’s not property of SG either. Nobody is stepping up to host any major games, I’m doing so now. I’m choosing BOTE as the name of my tournament because last years didn’t go so well, and I was the host. I’d like a chance to redeem myself in that game. This is my game from the beginning to the end. I’ve elisted help in the edits, but he’s working with MY ideas and expanding on them. My goal is a fun game, yet also a challenge for even the elite.
With those reasons stated, if anybody has any objections to this (other than SG as we’ve already noted his) then feel free to present them.
I’m letting it be known that I’m going to copy this post in its entirety to the other forum where I stated I’m going to monitor the thread. I will not be monitoring this site.I expected lots of smack as SG told me months ago he would fight me hosting this game. I’m moving forward anyway. Answer to both, not very many. You two going to play? what about Sing? Rev? Vader? Can we expect Parrot and crew? How about some of the players who played many moons ago and have come back to the game? Sounds like a good chance to knock us n()()bs down a few pegs. Maybe a few of the other players who dont have a reg. corp will step up. I name names but Ive been out of it so long I dont know who is and who isnt playing any more. Funny thing is Im not even sure why im half way excited about it, Id guess we'd be luck if there was 10-20 people playing.

When i stated i wouldnt be playing in BOTE i told that to you in much haste...There is no law that a man who speaks out in anger will be held to something he said in anger....If i want to play Bote i will if i dont i wont..My only word to you is i will decide for myself in a calm and logical fashion,,,,,

In the rules you posted no substitutions again this year (same as last year as per your statement in my signature) But yet Regardless of intentions you decided to break the Rules to favor a Server over other Servers who couldnt Have susbstitutions....When it was discovered that it was done "without" your knowledge you closed the game citing that as the reason(i can quote u if needed) THEN months AFTER the game has ended we find out YOU did it with out anyone elses's knowledge..By your words "to keep it under the radar" IF YOU believed the rule existed..(as u state below) AND YOU closed the game Because a Team broke that rule...WHY would anyone believe that you wouldnt do The Same Exact thing this year??? YOU did it for a team last year Believing what you was doing was wrong " Keeping it under the Radar" Why wouldnt you do it for another team THIS year " Keepin it Under the RADAR" What exactly would be the difference? Last year you get caught MONTHS AFTER the game is closed for the very Same thing??? The only difference this year is we now KNOW you WOULD "keep it under the Radar"......

During Bote all everyone said was RP is SG's Puppett.....Then we find out how you cheated Both me and Rev's team by "keeping it under the radar" allowing Vulcans Forge Countless Substitions Then Closing the Tournament when Someone finds out about one ...You stated at the end how you believed the winners of the BOTE would be percieved and you have preconcieved notions about "Turtling" and consertive building strategy.

As for any relationship/friendship we HAD it ended when I found out how you conducted yourself...You Cheated RP..And you knew you Cheated "keeping it under the radar" Regardless of your intentions You still Cheated. If your intentions were pure we wouldnt of found out about it MONTHS aftewards AND You wouldnt of "kept it under the Radar"

So call just call it RP's Bote 2008 and sponsor one from classictw.com that follows the so-called rules. Ask Big D to host (he's less likely to screw the players with unknown/untold rule changes)

the Rules for bote said anyone with a set of codes could sponsor a team. Lets quit whining and play.

B.O.T.E has been around for a while and using that name could take away from a the true intent of the Tournament. If individual servers want their own how about "RP's House of Pain" I am sure someone could come up with better. Honor the touney and pick something else. I don't know the history nor do i care, just here to play....errrr well not die
