Actually, I'm a Jayhawk. But I believe Oklahoma was the best team this year.

The only time I am a Jayhawk fan is when they play someone outside the conference. OU is the team I prefer and I catch and give grief to the Jayhawk fans here in Kansas. Makes going to Players (sports bar) interesting when OU hooks up against KU or KSU.

A playoff is the only way the real "best in" football will be determined. The BCS was a nice try but failed. A playoff the top 16 teams would be good, but then there would be controversy from teams 17-20 about why they weren't included. I somehow doubt this will happen because of the importance (read $$$) of the Bowl games and their respective histories.

I think Mississippi State tearing up UCF shows that the BCS is whacked pretty bad.
Here's arguably one of the worst SEC teams having no trouble at all with the C-USA Champion. But it was to be expected, because there are really only four division 1 football conferences: SEC - Big 10 - Big 12 - PAC. Even the best ACC or Big East or CUSA or SunBelt or WAC or whatever team has never justified a ranking in the top five - their conference schedule is just too weak.

As for Ohio State or LSU - it ought to be Oklahoma and LSU - those are the two best teams - LSU by two touchdowns...

It's hard to make the argument that Oklahoma was the best team when they fall to West Virginia in the Fiesta Bowl 48-28. That makes the Big 12 look bad Of course, that's one of the problems with the bowl game system. The better team often has less to play for, and OU didn't seem very hungry in this game.

Well, there's always basketball. We have a strong conference this year. OU did a nice job with that win over West Virginia on the basketball court, at least.

Am i the only 1 here who thinks football should be played with a round ball...

Pretty much. A round ball is for basketball, baseball, softball, tennis, and dimpled for golf. Other uses of a round ball are a waste of time at least in regard to sports (and it is a stretch for me to call golf a sport).
