Hey guys,
I've been talking to a few TW players recently, and it seems that there is an elusive storyline that may or may not have been written on Trade Wars. I know there is a story, I know some of it as an old player.
I know JP has mentioned it many times that there is one written probably in bits and pieces, possibly as fiction by players, Sysops etc... It seems to be an elusive thing since I've never seen anything written about it myself.
Is there such a thing as a written Trade Wars storyline or is that just an unfounded rumor?

Have you read the history? Or the Wikipedia Article?

Of course.
I'm not talking about the story behind the game. I'm talking about the story of the races, characters, the Federation, the Ferrengi, within the game, and how it all comes together etc...
For example, JP mentioned at one point that there were like 11 (or so) races in there. Etc...
Unless there is a wikipedia article that I missed or a link to that in the wiki, noone seems to know about this except JP himself...

The game itself is peppered with it's history, the various ansi sequences and the like kind of spell stuff out.

I could swear I've seen a storyline for TW, not the sequence of upgrades, but an actual "plot" that set the tone for the game. I just can't lay my hands on it now.

Turn ANSI on. Land at terra. Dock at stardock. Play around at dock. Look at some of the stock ships and planets.
Basically it's this... sometime in the late 20th century (laff) there were a bunch of wars and nasty stuff. Earth is overpopulated (hence colos) and somehow we figured out how to do spacey stuff. Stardock was built, feds came about, enter your corp.
Not that it makes one lick of sense really, but JP planned to address that in a later version (especially the dates). Obviously it never happened.

I had often wondered about the planet in sector 1. One would think it was supposed to be planet Earth, but then it has the name Terra instead. Was the late 20th century so far off back then that we would have renamed the planet by 2002?

Nice Stuff Big D. They have in-game screenshots of the texts. This is the base of the storyline after all.
Weird that humans built StarDock in 1998 though, hehehe... Oh well.

It is one of our country's best kept secrets - construction started in the early 80s and work continues to this day. The technology is based on the alien spacecraft that landed in Roswell and is assisted by the aliens that live there. It is part of the Star Wars project, and only Trade Wars players, outside of the construction crew, know of its existence.
