Hi all, been out a while and I'm practicing up on a local game, getting some scripts and seeing how they work. Anyone know where I can find a good port trade script, one that works under any conditions? Preferrably one with EP's haggle routine? I am in the first stage of the game, my character has just been created and I'm in a MERC with 20 holds, no scanner of any kind. I tried the 1_trade.ts script, after renaming the haggle.ts file it uses and placing EP's haggle script in there in it's place. But 1_trade tells me I don't have a scanner and quits.

So, any idea where I can get a good port pair trading script? Thanks

Well, it seems that the EP Beta06 script seems to be working ok for this now, had some trouble with it last night.

EP's haggle does work, just takes some work on the settings. If you're just looking for a port pair script 1_port seems to be pretty useful. I tend to use swath's, tho.

1_trade.ts is a world scouting / world trade script. It's not really all that useful these days.

Ah, thanks for the clarification on those scripts Sing. Ya, I am using his haggle script with the SWATH built in port trader, and it seems to be working pretty good.

Be careful with that thing... I don't want you to be accused of cheating

Wait, how did you get them working together?

I'm new to TW, and after finally getting TWX Proxy working satisfactorily (Databases was refusing to create non-corrupted, etc.), I was trying out EP's haggle script.  Worked even better than I expected, but I've been unable to get it to work alongside any PPT script.

I tried it with 1_Port, SWATH's PPT (Both with SWATH's haggle on and off completely), and J-TWAT's PPT all with poor results (usually starts trying to warp me halfway across the galaxy).  I replaced the include/haggle script with the one provided, but from what I can tell 1_Port doesn't ever use that file anyway.

Is there already another set of scripts out there that implements EP's haggle, or some other method to make them play nice instead of both haggle at the same time?  That level of haggle awesomeness would also be very nice in other stuff too obviously, such as SDT and the like.

On a somewhat related note, EP's haggler did mess up at least once, and repeatedly mis-haggle at one port, causing a 'not interested' response.  After manually buying from there once, it worked fine again.  Script worked great (by itself) other than that.  I took some screenshots in case the port specifics might help fix this minor bug (assumedly):

O mid-haggles
4 mid-haggles

It works w/ swath haggle, I use that in pretty much every game. You just have to make sure all of the settings are correct. If they're off, at all, it might not work correctly. What you do is turn on swath mode and turn off swath's autohaggle.

Sigh, the haggle expires at the end of this month (June), so I'm gonna spend my free time over the next couple of days to try and do a bit of rewriting. I'll post an updated, non-expired version on grimytrader.com by July 1, so check there when you get the dreaded expired message.

Twinge, for getting them to work together be sure to change the setting for intercepting SWATH's offers to ON, that could be your problem when running them together, maybe it isn't intercepting the SWATH offers, so extra numbers are sent and can send you off across the galaxy to your doom. Heh

Ah, I must've tried every combination BUT that.  Probably turned on the SWATH capture and it didn't work so I turned it back off, THEN turned off SWATH's haggle.  Oops.  Of course, Now I'm not really interested in using SWATH anyway, and the Haggler has expired

I don't know if this is the best place, but EP seems to be reading this forum and thread, so:

I'd suggest adding an option for a minimum number of mid-haggles for planet negotiation.  When selling off 32760 equipment, I always want 2 mid-haggles; it's worth the extra turns used to skip over the 0 and 1 mid-haggle offers.

Other than that (and maybe an option to change the menu button - I actually use semi-colons when typing :/), a stellar script.  Please let us know when you have a chance to update it =)

A crisis at work has prevented me from getting to this. Also, compiling the now-expired release of this haggle was the last thing that I did before upgrading to Vista, and my scripting environment is still not quite setup properly. I'll commit to rolling out an unexpired version within the next week.

I did begin building the framework for a rewrite, but it may be a few months before I have the time to finish it. Much of that depends on how much you guys bug me
