The server runs as a service on the machine that it's installed on. This means you need to get the machine's IP, and have people connect to the assigned port.
Linky:
http://www.navhaz.com/who_am_i.php
Will give you your IP. If you want a dynamic name (something better than the IP, something with a catchy name) go here:
http://www.dyndns.com/
They have a service that lets you assign a name to your IP address and keep it changing as your IP changes.
Anyway, from that you need to send people to the name or IP to the assigned port... like:
telnet://74.127.111.222:23
Where you'd telnet into that IP, port 23. If you use port 2002 instead of 23, use that instead.
You can then link to it from there. The link looks like:
Code: <A HREF="telnet://your-ip:23">Your server's name</A>
Be sure you list your server's information elsewhere, too, outside of the link as IE 7 blocks telnet links.

Fisrt let me welcome you to TradeWars!
ok when you view your twgs main screen there is a blue question mark at the upper left corner, then a start/stop server button. Then there are 3 buttons close together to the right of that button.
LOG , GRID , STATS
press the stats button and you will see displayed the player port # and under that is addesses this will be a number with periods in it like this 55.444.333.22 this number along with the port number is the information players need to connect to your twgs and play games,
additionaly you need to supply on a game for game basis
the sectors that each specific game contains.
ie, 5000 sectors for game a, or 20,000 sectors for game b,
so that your players can create the games data bases.
let me know if you have any more questions i will be glad to assist you in getting you twgs server up and running.

If you can't figure it out, I'll be home tomorrow around 8pm EST. My ICQ number is 121004329. When you ask for approval, make sure you specify who you are in the request and I'll add you. It will be easier to walk you through this on ICQ.

Thanks RP that works well with telnet. I have it installed on my IE7, also if he wishes to try other browsers to connect he may look into Firefox, a fav of mine, or Maxthon, another fav of mine, also there are helper programs out there to help connect to games as well, here is some links for helpers and scripts as well.

Which site?
What is the link that you are clicking on?
Are they trying to connect to your server, or another?
If it is your own server, then you will need to make sure port forwarding is configured on your router.

It depends. What type connection do you have? DSL, cable? You may need to configure your modem/router to pass connections to your server. You're router IP will be different from your internal IP and players can't connect to a router IP. Then, you'll need to configure twgs to accept connections to your IP. It will detect it automatically on startup if you have it set to auto in the twgs configuration.
Also, if you don't have a static IP, (that means if it changes frequently or otherwise known as a dynamic IP), then you'll need a redirect URL. These can be obtained free from many places, and you can also get a small program that most of these sites offer that will update it automatically if your IP does change. You can also buy a redirect URL with any name you want that is available and configure it to update automatically also. I think they range around $30 or $40 a year.

A redirect from namecheap is under $10 a year. Dyndns, mentioned in my first post, is free.
