The TWA Database Project, simply put, is to put the settings of the most popular edits into a mysql database that can be accessed via a dynamic web page. All of the settings for each edit available to the player, sysop or gameop.

The project is made up of 3 steps.

Step 1. Add all of the edits I have downloaded to the mysql database and accessable via the page at here. This page is dynamic and reads each edit from the mysql database but lacks the specific ship, planet and alien info from the edit.

Each twa file listed in the database is linked to a zip file that can be downloaded, containing the twa file and a txt file containing the default settings for the edit (the same as you would get from hitting '*' from the game menu.  There is also a 'Specs?' column that is linked to the same txt file mentioned above. So you can download either the edit and the spec file or just the spec file.


Step 2. Add the specific ship, planet, and alien settings for each edit to the mysql database, also available via this page.

Step 3. Export the database info and make it available to anyone that wants to use it on their own site or personal server.

Current Status of Stage 1 - Complete

I have added a total of 87 TWA files to the database. That is every file I have.  I will start work shortly on stage 2

I just added 18 more edits to the TWGS and grabbed the info for input into the database


I have the A-O added minus 16 C, D and E edits but I will catch up those shortly.


At present I have ~41 Edits in the database and ~45 more to go before stage 1 is complete

Cerne, what you're taken on is a huge project, but when complete, will be very usefull.

Perhaps He could also benefit from the t-edit revealer you have on your twgs. Just a suggestion and tell me to shut up when neccesary.

That's still needing some work.
 

Got a lot of unknown authors on there. Most of the edits on my page list who made em if you want that info.

Speaking of which Vader, I seriously need to redo my downloads page, heh, haven't had time to do it, I also need to get the info of who made the edits, I will get with you later on that when I finally revamp the downloads page. I am working on a dynamic upload/download setup, I hope it works, then the whole thing will update itself, laff.

Since the TWA Database project is your baby, could you provide me a little detail on what it is? I'd like to post it in the TradeWars Academy site and I can link over to your project. You can email me what you want posted for an explanation and I'll put it on a page. Providing you don't mind me doing so. I'd like to help give it more exposure.

I am going to update the authors this weekend. I now have a php based editor for the mysql database.
