 New Feature - Planet Shield Generator

I really love this game and almost everything makes sense in terms of the game universe.



One of the things that stands out to me is the fact that planets do not
generate shields. The idea that they need to be bought at a Class 0/9
port makes no sense for planets in this game universe.



I would like to see the addition of a planet feature that generates
shields just like they do with figs, and product. It makes complete
sense in this game universe.

There are a lot of things that could be added to the game, but from what I hear, after the deal with the Syliens, JP can only do bug fixes and simple updates.   I'd love to see some things like a citadel BUY menu which could include the following:
(C)  Buy planet cloaking device    $1,000,000,000
(G)  Buy planet shield generator     $50,000,000
(U)  Upgrade ship docking station   $1,000,000
With sub menu asking "You don't have a ship docking station would you like to create one?"  (or if you do have one)  "Upgrade ship docking station to 2, 3 4, etc..."   (Same type feature as a planet transport upgrade)
There are thousands of ideas that could be implemented. And the best part is most of the coding could be done in an isolated area for bug testing.   Of course even a seperate menu would effect other areas of code depending what features you added.
Actually I would be more willing to pay to play Tradewars if things like this were done insteaad of the graphics addition or script ellimination.

How do you propose to balance all of these new things?

Shields would require something to build, right? Something equal to the cost of shields at dock, but maybe in terms of product?

Cloaking device, so now someone can cloak out their planet and hide even more? How would you knock out a cloak? How would it function? Most people don't want to think of those things...

Docking station... so you don't have to keep ships in sector, right? Now you can't lose them, just swap in and out and run. So what's the penalty then of overbuying ships? Right now the risk to buying more ships than you need is simple... you might get them taken. How would you keep that balance?

I think those other things might unbalance the game. I figure if the planet can make figs then it ought to make shields. lol
