I agree, you've taken a lot of flack here.  Posts like the above isn't going to help your cause any though.   I mean it was you that came in and posted that this forum was shutting down and we would have to move to your forum or else.  You also posted a list of links that were 4 years old and most were inactive.  That was a bad start and things are just starting to calm down, but there have been a lot of posts and many are still reading the 1st ones.  So some are playing catch up here.

There are several links sites available, and I have one myself with all active links on it.  I have each link type divided into divisions for easy access.  You are welcome to mirror that site for links if you wish.

Bad publicity my Butt.
What I posted was FACT.

If you don't want people going ballistic then there is an easy fix.

Make sure that people that want to explore your site CAN freeking log on.

Your the one saying you want people to help with things I was willing to try and see if I could kinda see what I was getting to but NO I can't see anything.

I am sorry but from what I have seen so far your game is doomed. If Joe NoServer is who you are targeting you forgot the most important rule.   KISS (for any Canadians and members of SGC that means Keep It Simple Stupid) If they can't logon how in the hell do you think they can see the advertising you are getting paid to let them see?

You said yesterday that server would be up today.

It is around 2000 central time and no server.

Can we get an update on when you will allow us to try and see what your offering.

Hmmm... It would be nice if the TWT site was up though. Sigh. It was going on great before easter weekend but we had to shut it down for a few short days to make sure everything was alright.

As for the SGC, we've had difficulties with the login way back in November when we first started the site. It was registering the people's information fine, but the thing is, you're actually doing it on Aria System's servers, our billing solution. That's where the account is generated. Then they are supposed to immediately send the account information to us, along with some other stuff.

What had happened in November was that the Aria servers started to lag and thus our systems weren't aware of the registration before the individual tried to login. Our system therefore told said individual: "Hey, you're not in my DB!".

It was a pain in the *ss to find what the problem was then. It was apparently fixed and then we didn't have any more difficulties with that.

Though your login situation looks quite similar to the complaint we had back then, I hope it isn't the Aria servers that are lagging.

As you say, Joe NoServer doesn't like that stuff happening. He'll just move on to another service or game! I'm talking to Aria tomorrow so I'll bring it up and see.

Anyone know any good services that can do very custom billing services potentially over a series of products, most of which with totally free options and combinations of services? (it gets complicated in there.... lol)

Oh, and another thing. Do you guys mind if we put a link to the Classictw.com site in the SGC?

We should certainly join up. With the strength of this community, who wouldn't want to associate themselves with you guys.

Besides, just so you guys know, the game industry is JUST starting to realize that now it is the players that have all of the power, 'cause they can do pretty much everything they can do if they get organized (and in some cases even alone).

as you are using the tradewars name, i think it's only right to link here so people who maybe don't know what that game is based on can see where it came from.

I don't have an issue (but I'm not an official desision maker here), can we link to you on our sites as well?

Sure thing. Our intention is to create a massive community of creators and builders of games and games ideas. Sure they will all play our games, and the games that come out of the community. But the more people that know of our stuff, the better, especially if they come from a community like TW, who are IMO pioneers of game creation and modification.

Sylien really started out with a dream game called "The Paradise Project". We had a web site and attracted about 100 people to the site to help us design and work on it, as we thought, this is a time for the players to "take back the games". We were tired of letting the publishers and studios decide for us what was fun in the games that were released, and decided to let the community decide with us instead.

When we encountered JP and TW, we were overjoyed to hear that the community still existed because it told us that these were guys (and some gals I hope) that had the right idea, and TW was a great game to start off our company, because of you guys and because it is known to alot of people (business decision there).

As old TW players ourselves, we fondly remembered the time when we played TW on our 2400 baud modems and decided to go ahead because EIS and TW had the same elements we wanted to foster with our own games! Plus it had the advantage of being a brand that we could discuss with partners and potential investors to give us a business "edge".

Though it was clear from the beginning that it was important to keep the spirit of TW as it was, thus a contract was signed between EIS and Sylien basically saying that TWT is Sylien property officially, BUT that EIS has go / no-go say over the game play, the looks and the storyline. So we're coding the way we want, but it has to be a TW feel, look and story for EIS to approve and us to go public with. Nice eh?

So it is true when JP says that he has to agree to it, and it further encourages us to work with EIS and this community to make sure that the game, while different, still IS TW and not another goof like what happened with TW Dark Millenium etc...

Everything is quite formal and clean to ensure that this happens. Though myself and JP have had disagreements about business stuff and certain clauses, we're clear on one point: TWT is meant to be a true TW remake, not something "based on" TW like many games out there.

Your login software at the above web page isn't working.  It will let you set your settings, but won't give you access to any other parts of your server.  I can actually log on without a password and get onto your site, but of course I'm not a valid user then and can't do much of anything.
