Get a free copy of Zoc and Twx. If you got the 20 bucks try a Swath/Twx combo...Dont waste your time with ATTAC under any circumstances.

Just a question. In Thrawn's absence I'm filling in and working on more content for TradeWars Academy. We started doing the flash videos showing how to use SWATH, and now working on TWX. I had mentioned we should also include ATTAC in the Helpers section. Is there something that we can demonstrate in our tutorials to help new players? Or are you saying it's too complicated and we should stick to SWATH/ZOC/TWX only? I am curious to hear your input, as I don't want to waiste time on a resource no one uses.

phead's just being a troll. He doesn't like attac, which is fine. I have an attac reg, I don't use it very often because of it's limited macro capabilities, rather confusing map and tendancy to lock up... but some people love it. Attac isn't complicated at all, however.

Thank you for the clarification.
I had also thought so too. We have developed our tutorials to show basics, such as how to connect to a game, using TWX Proxy with the helper, etc. Although ATTAC has a bit more to it for connecting to a game than the others, I thought it was still good to cover it as well as the others.
So far I'm working on completing SWATH, then TWX Proxy since Thrawn has been called away from Outpost-4. After we were looking at ZOC and ATTAC. Have I missed any other helper worth adding to the list?

Re: Helper for New or Returning Players
What is wrong with GATH as a helper? I have not heard too much about it, good or bad....I've started using it and it doesn't seem to be too bad. Is there something about it that I should know about?
thanks, otacon

Re: Helper for New or Returning Players
Gath is very similar to Swath except it is very limited in the programmable keys and is free , so you get what you pay for or not. It is good enough to get you started , if you use it with twx it might be enough to keep you playing till you decide you want more , like a map and more macro keys. Till then , enjoy the game

Re: Helper for New or Returning Players
I bough SWATH yesterday but obviously haven't received the codes for it yet. Hope it's good I got a discount as somehow I had ATTAC codes layin' around. I've only tested SWATH in Eval Mode - I sure liked it more than this old copy of TWAR which I'm using atm. I haven't heard too much on your guy's overall opinion of SWATH. Is it a pretty stable program which will meet all my general TW needs? I saw mention of using TWX (not yet familiar with it) in conjunction with SWATH somehow? Thanks, Skull ps. My first bang in years opens today at vm.braintoys.org weee

Re: Helper for New or Returning Players
Yes , the best combo I've found is Swath and twx. If your a macro user or writer .. swath will be worth it. If your a scripter , twx will be your main tool .. and swath the window in which to launch them. The next Swath will be that much better. As of this writing swath 1.9.3 is current version. Although I have not seem much improvement to the resource mover , the macro buffer has been changed so it will send proper loops (400 loops of 250 holds = 100k) this was not always the case in swath 1.8x If you need more help , feel free to contact me or leave messages on this server cause there is always someone here to help Edited : btw telnet://vm.brainToys.org Game server is currently full. you might want to raise player limit to 100 or so players if you want more then just a few friends online.
