If a gameop bangs a truce game and people want to play it, fine, their choice, but why bother? It just delays the inevitable. Its kinda like giving everyone a starter planet with 1M ore that goes to L6 in zero days with zero colos and zero product, or whatever.

Quote: Truce or No Truce? A lot of players argue that truce games are not good training tools. I'm one of them. But if one steps back and take a look, maybe I'd have to reconsider my opinion. Under truce a player has time to learn game functions without having to look over his shoulder waiting for someone to blow him up and end his day in the game. When one becomes familiar with the functions they can also learn to react faster in the games when someone attacks them, or in a corporate environment they don't have to slow and ask how to do something when told to. This leads to faster game play, and less aggravation within the corporate environment. Also under truce a player has time to build, and experiment with planets to see what works and what doesn't. Get set up, and learn how to attack, or defend from an attack. Now allow me to defend my original position. Truces give players a chance to learn, but it also makes them lazy. They get used to not having to look over their shoulder and wonder when that attack is going to happen. You remember to stop and scan, because if you hit that fig it could mean your death! We all know UTW as a truce board, and we ridicule it relentlessly saying that it doesn't produce good players. Most players get used to that style of play, and never venture forth from there. But a few of them do! We have seen some good players this last year go from noobs to advanced, or (ahem) really good players. Some of them I recon have ventured from that site. I really have no numbers, or stats, & I just go by what I hear from players, and read on boards. So have I changed my position? No, I haven't, but I do have to admit that maybe we've received a few new, maybe good players, because that site is there. So is it worth it? I'd have to say yes. We need players don't we? Only way we're going to get them is to find a game they are comfortable playing in, and if it's a truce game, so be it. I just hope they don't get stuck there.
(for those that are lazy)

Can you name 1 truce player who is any good at tradewars?
Can you name 1 player who "ventured from UTW to become an 'advanced' player"?
Without names, you're just speculating.
I can name hundreds of names of "advanced" players who came from either low turns or unlims, neither with truces.
I can name not a single "advanced" player to have come from truce games, or from UTW.
So, from my own personal experience with the community over the past.. 5 years or so, I've got to say, truces/utw lead to bad players becoming worse players and never *ever* getting anywhere near what most people would call "advanced", let alone half decent.
Also, 99% of "truce" games are unlims*, which is the single most retarded part about it.
*high turns = unlims

All good points Slim.
Well I don't have names, but I've "heard" that there are a few from UTW that I'm not sure we can call advanced, but at least they can hold their own. I'd have to agree with you though that I don't see many (if any) that move on to advanced players. I'm not a fan, don't get me wrong, was just trying to look from the other perspective.

Well I'm guessing that if he's going to troll, he prolly wants to put it in the place where there's the highest probability of someone understanding it...

Again: Name them.

So he pasted it in EIS? A place where spell check isn't a tool, it's a requiremnt? A place where comma's and periods are like dust paricles scattered in space? A place where run on sentences and smiley faces are considered advanced knowledge?
However, your post was funny and gave me a laugh, so you can't say EIS is lacking humor.
