I have found myself on the other end of the 'kill the newbie' argument. I have been playing solo in some games on TraderVics, practicing some of the things I learned in the Random Corp Game I just played.
I don't know if I was killing n00bs or not, it doesn't really matter to me, since I was trying to win the game and to do that everyone else needs to be dead.
So I keep getting these Fed Space and Private messages from peeps who, coming into the game a week old, is wondering why I am so mean killing such a helpless person as themselves.

OMG, you are a newbie killer now. LMAO. You will find that when you SD someone you will hear that. For some reason there are those that think that any game they go in they should be able to destroy a grid and do whatever they want. When you stop them, you aren't letting them play. Well, they aren't players IMHO as a player is someone that gets hit and wants to find out how it was done and doesn't cuss you out on fed.
I am in a game on Blacksun and had two very seperate experiences with two people. One "Ademonov" (sorry to mess up the alias) is playing as Vorian, and he got hit several times and kept coming back - never B and moaned. Another named Lightening_rod got podded and then it was f u, f u and your family - I wasn't nice after that - hung his pod on fighters and let him move/retreat for a bit. Guess which one I think could be a player in time, and which one is something for target practice.
Anyway, welcome to the newbie killers group........

Whatever presses your buttons is ok I guess.
Killing newbies is a waste of time, a waste of assets, and a potential loss of future tw players. Its almost as dumb as killing Ferrengi.
Who cares if there are newbies happily flying around on the CLV if every other player/corp that matters a Darn has been strangled and starved to death.

If they hit your grid, they must die. You can't have people running around smacking your figs.

well, depends on the game really.
if it's a low turn game, and all competition is destroyed, meh, but if it's an unlim, and you're still playing, then they can be a large annoyance.

In an unlim allowing someone to wander around is dangerous. You never know who they are and allowing them to survive means allowing them to build.

I like to think I learned to be a better player by first, getting killed (and not understanding why) and then getting killed less (but understanding why I got killed when it happened) as I learned how to play.
My biggest short-coming is not being patient enough.

PS Parrot, come put your skills to the test in the Solo practice games. You can't depend on Sam to save your butt in there lol.

Fair comment.
When I restarted TW, I had my head handed to me, over and over again, on a plate. It irritated me and caused me to learn fast, in order to get even.

kill! kill! kill!
well I've only been back 13 months now. Before that was 10 years ago. when I first came back I was just useing good old telnet and was at Ice9 playin moo2, ran into TheButcher. He #sd# me 7 straight days before he asked how new I was. gave me some instrutions on gitting swath and twx. didn't realy teach me how to use anything but answerd questions when I asked inbetween killing me over and over again. then there were a few others after that. As I went I kept asking anyone that would help me, how to play the way the do and a number of players piped up and taught me something here and there till I got to a point that I could at least survive in a game. then I started corping with others and passing on what I had learnd befor WE finaly got a win as a team that I was on.
Now I play with a great group of guys that are still teaching me somethin seems like it never ends. guess that's why I get called a noob..heh
Point is that most new or returning player I ask them as soon as I see them move how new they are.(hoping there going to tell me the truth) and then kill them. I tell them if they need any help learning the game I'll helpem out and a fair amout of the time I'll see if they want to corp with me. However it seems most player don't want any help they want to learn the hard way so you have to kill them over and over again. Till they say "so ok how can I do that."
You have to kill them to end the game, or turn it into some sort of training game. might send them to outpost-4
you want compition...teach ,you want them to want to be taught killem a few times.
sorry that was so long. hope it counts for someone other then my post count.

I am sorry but I am not going to ask someone hitting my grid if they are new or not. I can find out the next day after they come back from their ship destroyed

That's because your probably already playin a game with a full corp and probably not interested in teaching. I don't do it in the games that Team Kraaken are playing in just the random games I pop into.
