why are we disallowing zdy? (sorry, never played a chess before)
Main rule: when you lose your planet, you lose. (unless you get it back by extern)
so, if your enemy zdy's it, well, they were already on your planet, which means you were invaded and your only hope is to hide on the planet prompt like a sally.
Now, if you yourself zdy the planet, basically, you are admitting defeat.
Quote: im ok with giving someone till exturn if we can have a rule against ZDY a king a planet...otherwise why would i want to invade ? The alternative and foolproof way (imho) is to have the Team eliminated as soon as the invasion of the king planet shows in the log.
why would you want to invade? um, to eliminate that team...
If you zdy it, they lose, if they zdy it, they lose, if you invade and keep it until extern, they lose.
3 good reasons to invade.

The thinking behind no zdy of Kings was, the team with the most Kings won. Taking King planets out throws the balance off. That's the history of it anyway. King planets churn out a lot of product/figs, so they're a big commodity.

define accounted for.
If they are blown up, i'd consider that being accounted for.
Can we get a full list of rules now, so by the time march 9th comes around we'll know what we're doin?

heh, made me re-download twgs to test it during lunch
can we get a clarification of what "getting back your king before extern" consists of?
IE: do i just need to have it claimed for my corp at extern? or do i need to be in full control of it?
For example, to prevent people from just sitting on the planet prompt and spamming "oc" a million times at extern, can we clarify to state something like:
You lose if your planet is not claimed by your corp at extern.
But, if you reclaim it before extern, if you lose the claim within the first 5 minutes after extern, your corp is eliminated.
That way, if some shmoe is just sitting on the planet prompt, all someone has to do is sit with him and after extern when he/she claims it, just claim it back and boom, that corp is eliminated.

LOL. Why all up in arms over zdy? So what if a king planet goes poof... (and as you've seen you can just make an alien race for each corp, then turn off the alien race and give the planet to them... making it undettable. We tested that earlier.)
Still, all of these rules are going to lead to some serious whinebaginess. I mean how can you know when a planet is claimed, it doesn't show on the logs so you've gotta be in tedit, right? I can just hear that now.
If a guy is sitting at the planet prompt doing oc oc oc oc oc oc a zillion times, then just keep torping him and taking his turns. Sooner or later he'll lift and die. Or you could eliminate the zdy restriction and let people just det the planet. Game mechanics are pretty balanced that way. If it's really a problem just drop it in an MSL right before extern... and laugh as it becomes unusable.
Letting people vote on anything during the game is a bad bad bad idea. There has never been a case where a group vote was fair, giving people yet another reason to just sit back and turtle.
Keep it simple.

ya, drop your own king in an msl, have a dude on planet prompt 24/7. you can never ever ever be eliminated.
i wouldn't think this would happen, but by god turtle power sure has come back since the late 80's.

The gold alien home worlds that we will be using as King's are not able to be zdy'd so that wont be an issue.
I think the easiest way to tell if a corp is eliminated is to use the log. Once you see that a king planet has been invaded, lets say the corp that lost it has to re-invade it before extern to avoid elimination. That will be easily verifiable by everyone in the game and we wont have any of this hide at the planet prompt BS.
