Let dupers cast dupe votes. Being a moderator is not a power thing, it's a suck thing. All the time. It's BS 24/7. There's very little good in being a moderator and being an admin is even worse. Then you're the fall guy for every little dislike some user has about the site. "Ewww, that button is too yellow, make it red. Eww that button is too red, make it stop!"
If some moron wants to get a lot of people to cast dupe votes so that said moron can work extra hard, get called names and learn to develop a habitual dislike of this forum and game... well so be it. Just make the elections regular so when said moron burns out he can be replaced with ease.
Sadly, IMO, this is also the only way to put accountability back into things while getting the masses to shut the frick up. Then atleast there's a very tiny chance that someone compotent, knowledgeable, fair-ish and active-ish will come on board... and while I'm sure they'll dislike every minute of it, atleast the community could benefit... sysops and all.

Sing, I dispute the fact that you say nobody that isn't competent, knowledgable, and fair-ish has not already stepped on board.
Other than that, I totally agree with you. A constant state of accountability is the only way to ensure fair play by all.

Laff, I didn't say that... I just figure after you've all modded for a while you're likely to lose 2 of those 3. Some quicker than others .

Which one of the whiners has the time, energy, desire , software knowledge , bandwith and server(not on someones desktop or kitchen table) to host and maintain this site?Does anyone have an answer to this question? Oh and I forgot..the funds required out of their own pocket.

Be careful what you ask 4 ...OH... I have plenty of server space and bandwidth and even the cash, Desire now thats the real question, I bought the software that EIS is using and will be putting it up as a user/Viewer forum for our station I happen to like the format and the toys it comes with.. Now.. Should I consider to move it on our Webserver/s I would need NO mods or Admins.. Redundent and pointless. I would let her fly as they say, But than I repeat.. I have NO desire at this time to bother with it.. However should all else fail and NO one wanted to step up ...for the sake of the game and the sincer players I would host it... Carefull they say ; You might get what you ask for but on a bun and not on sliced bread...
Zentock This is NOT a Flame.. Nor Smack.... Please read it carefully, Yes it means that if I had it on MY server I wouldnt need any useless Ego manics to post Guard.. Not that I am saying your meaningless and useless or even ego manic, Just using an example since your GUARDING the post now days, Its all in how you read it, It may mean something different to you than to say PH put the two minds together and suprise.. Ya never know... No Smack just friendly chat.. LOL

I have a setup on the forum to monitor the IP's and validate them, to see if they are good and not routed, and we will be monitoring the IP's to make sure there aren't multiple nominations from one IP.
The voting will be handled the same way, the way ender had it setup last year, there was no way fo validate IP's I have a way this year, and will use it too.

I Perfer Buns anyway. Belly up to the bar. Always good to see active community members with solutions rather than complaits.Look forward to visiting your fine new web site.

Well phead several of us already have forums established. The bandwidth is very small since it's mostly text. I can name a half-dozen people here with the server, bandwidth and skills to host a site like this. And considering that I'm one of them...
But that isn't the question. Ya'll are always... and I do mean always, going to have problems w/ people disliking things. That is never, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever going to go away.
The only reason why there's such vocal disapproval right now is because the change was dramatic and the other users were told they have absolutely no input in the general course of things.
The former was just bad timing. The latter is simply untrue, since the vast majority of the content on this site is player provided. The only choice you're allowing people is that of their feet... which is just a bad choice for everyone. But when EIS dropped last time around, someone (Vulcan) volunteered his own forums for the cause. Just going to show that there's always someone willing to take the torch.
What you're suggesting is the ol "Our way or the highway" is the only choice around. If you continue that, you're going to get virtual-lynched. The smoke is already rising from that chimney.
Instead of saying "heh, if you don't like it here we don't have to host it" you could just go "Hey, it's good to have a place where we can chat... and since bandwidth is cheap and the server is already paid for (by vulcan, not you) why don't we just continue to provide the forum and you provide the rest?"
That way if people don't like stuff they really have no one else to blame but themselves. And the rest of us can just get back to playing the darn game instead of these idiotic politics.
V, validating IPs is only a stopgap solution to the voting thing. It's trivial to change your IP, and IP is really not going to solve the problem of ballot stuffing when people have a big email list they can campaign to.

What im suggesting is that peeps appriciate a service provided to them by their fellow tradewarriors. And IF thay have some complaint with those footing the bill to express their concerns in a reasonable manner.Vulcan doesnt deserve This!
Avatars and Smack talk etc is not something to give grief over.

I don't think people are criticizing Vulcan here. I do think people are criticizing you.
Code: if (Vulcan = Parrothead) halt else send "=Parrothead*clue**" end
