Although I never played in the games (wasn't a good enough player), this sounds like what I thought the TW League play was about.
If you could setup a 5 - 10 game rotation for instance with different edits and known bang times then you might get players in. Say setup games on AB, Vulcan, Proton, Outpost-4, Darkstarbase, Vid's server, Vader, and............ ultimateTW (others as well). Different servers, different edits/turn base and most likely different ping times.
Edits should be posted in regard to the normal information "*" and "s" provide along with the date/time/server that would host the bang. A single website that could be mirrored by the various servers would get more involvement.
I would not set it up as this corp vs that corp, but use a lottery pick with CEO's decided by the lottery as well. (Yes, some players would probably actually be CEO in name only, but still good experience as long as everyone worked through him/her). If you use established corps then one or two will dominate and learning/contact making is diminished. A script could be written to randomly assign players to corps to eliminate someone having to do that. Everyone log in, sysOp runs script, assignments made, let the killing begin.
I know this is something that I would be interested in as I am still terrible in turn management.
Before I get flamed for ultimatetw being a suggestion - they are a part of the TW community and getting those players involved in a game of this type could only benefit everyone.
k, my thoughts only and I have no idea if the sysOps of the various servers I listed would be interested in doing this or not.

k, forgot. The game edits - no aliens and if a server has to have a truce, no more than 1 day, although no truce would be best.

Darn good idea Promethius. Be kind of interesting if it would work out. I'd be up for it. Wonder if anyone else would be.

I don't host truce, but I'd be happy to help out in any way I can. I have 25 games and can drop Aliens from any of them if needed. Unless you want to specify an edit. Just let me know. I'm flexable either way.

So we have our first volunteer server!! Anymore?
SO far it seems the game we would liek to play is:
1000-2500 Turns
10,000-20,000 Sectors
A time limit of 6 hours or more
No Truce, or 1 Day Truce
No Aliens
With Rotating Edits
Randomly Generated Corps
What sort of edits do we like to play? I like Pirates I THINK but I've seen a few different Pirate Edits so I'm not sure which one is the original. I don't know much about Sub-Zero but that seems to be a popular edit too. As long as there is a decent ship for a red and Planets don't go level 4 within 3 days, I'm open for all types of edits, I just haven't tried many because so many of them are unlimited.
What other edits would other people like to play?

When I talk low turn games I thinking more on the lime of 700-1000 turns and I prefer a 5k to 10k universe. 20k seems way to big if you only have 10-15 players. As far as edits go a lot of the ones that low trun games are playing is moo2 pirates etc and those are just colo war games and mostly all blue games or you should be.
I would like to play a little more balanced game where you had to have a few reds and could rotate between mbbs and non mbbs.
Truce games have no real place in low turn games. I don't mind an agreement to let a corp start if it has some noobs playing. Keep the corp size down 3 or so. I would rather have more corps in game then haeing just two bigger ones.
Just my two cents

Well it sounds like we got some interest in this, and yes UTW is part of the community even though some people don't like them, I think they should be included if they want to, so from the servers listed do they all want to rotate and host? So far I have heard one of them that vollunters. Maby I can put up a website with everyones names and contact info that ones to play and then we can decided on rotate of different edits. The only thing I didn't like about the TW league was that it scored the players, which I don't think we need as it brings alot of problems with it.

I'll play if it is 5K sectors or less, 1K turns or less (turnbank ok) and time limited, with no off the wall edits and no sysop rules other than prohibiting obscenities on fed.
As to UTW? I played one game there a few months ago to see what all the crap that has been thrown at it might be about. Seemed fine to me. Spoke with the sysop a few times on fed and icq while playing, cordial conversations. Don't know why some people are trying to take it down.

10K sectors then. 5k sectors is way too easy to find everyone fast. And since its down to 10k sectors, turns would have to be turned down anyway, so 700-1000 would be appropriate.
I would like to play a little more balanced game where you had to have a few reds and could rotate between mbbs and non mbbs.
Thats cool. Any other suggestions for a specific edit out there?

I agree with the corp size. And as for truces, I don't personally care about them either way, someone just mentioned it and I was trying to consolidate all the information we had so far into one post so just such comments like this would come forth : )
As for a truce for new players entering the game, I was actually going to suggest a lock-out of new players after the first week or maybe two. My reasoning is that since we're putting this thing together here on the site so far, with most of our low-turn players knowing about it here, the people who really want to participate should be able to make it in in the first week or two. By week one, corps bases will be established, week two they will be beyond what a new corp could put together to conquer.
What does everyone think?
Suggestions for edits?
2 cents on the 700-1000 turns/10k universe size?
3 man corps sound fair for this small game?
To Truce new corps, or to have a lock-out, those are the questions!

If you take the idea of a truce for anybody out of that, It sounds a bit better.
Truces are for unlim's, they do not belong in turn games.

In a 1000 turn (or less) time limited game of 5K sectors, without sysop rules and/or flakey edits, it can be made quite difficult for opponents to find your bases, unless you build in one of the "round up the usual suspects" places.
Truces should be a matter between players/corps if they so decide, not sysop mandated. Sysop imposed truce rules in Unlim games? Who cares, it is not tradewars, rather, scriptwars.

5k sectors and 1k turns or less hard to find bases? no not likely, maby a week 2 tops if your well hidden, also depending on the edits.
