So I have been noticing that turn games are becoming less and less. And the people that play them are going to them in smaller numbers. My question is, is their any real dedicated turn players left out their that regularly play? I can only name a handful that I see. And its starting to get fustrating trying to find a good game to play as their is no compitition out their anymore.
Which is why I am thinking on quiting TW soon, as its getting to the point you only get 1 or 2 good games a year. Is anyone else have the same oppionion?

I'm a serious turn player and I play my turns daily unless serious work comes up or hubby has different plans for me.
Once I start a game, I'm there 'til the end, particularly game L at Reverend's. But I notice that one is hot in the beginning, and it always ends up being me, one other player, and a bunch of rogue mercenaries.
I also notice in other games that there always seems to be about 3 people, all either ending up solo, or two corp together and beat the crap out of the solo. But there are like, 5 games of 3 players or so. We should try to get them all together at ONE server and ONE game.
If enough people reply to this that are interested in playing turns based games, enough to get a couple of corporations going, I bet we could get someone to bang a game we want to play somewhere. We're adults and I think we could come up with a turn/universe/edit combination that we would all play.
So... Speak up guys!!
I like 1000-2500 turns, and i don't care the universe size, but I prefer 10-20k because I think they last longer and make it harder to find people. I like planet edits where citadels mature quickly, but not so quickly someone is p-dropping people on day 3. And whatever the ship edits, I can usually find something I like, I'm not terribly picky. But brownie points for decent ships for reds because that is how I roll. Last but not least, i like time limits, even if its something huge like 8-9 hours. Reason? I hate people who park on-line 24/7 with a photon script.

Check out game 0 on vulcans forge Killian.
if you play now be sure to log all planet and ship data as that game is now set in stone and will not change.

Killian,
I agree, thats what I was actually kind of thinking, trying to get the turn players together and all playing from one game to anouther so theirs actually compitition in each game. Could rotate through different edits, and or servers for that matter.

Ditto. Same here. I am playing Game N at the time and am having fun. Could be mor fun if there were more turnplayers. limitet turns without time limit are useless as you pointet out. If someone can just hang in ther 24h and ZTM the Universe, than there is also no point in limitet turns. The thrill of limitet turns is lost, wenn the game is over bevor it beginns. Also I would like to see some special ships, that make gridding obsolet or at least not as predictable. Need perhaps a Scout with a Mass of shielding and lots of possible carbs to work it as a Griddestroyer. Or perhaps someone can figure out how to get Capt Zyran with his fed force to constantly randomly destroy figs to make unpredictable holes in the Grids?? Also for those players that come late in the Game, it would be intersting to give the startship MC a scanner from the beginning. this way they might be able to join the Game and not be blown up on theire first way to SD. There is a lot that could be done to make turn games last weeks and be thrilling all the way. I can remember in older days, I would be thinkinga all day how to score better on the next day and that was fun.... So maybe we should let those who live by theire scripts have fun in theire unlimitet Games and they could try playing without excessiv scripts in the dayly turn games. or just stay away?--- Lets get this thing together

This is why I was saying you really have to do different edits each time, as everyone has different oppinons and likes different style games. For me I hate doing the same edit over and over and over, besides that I really don't care much.
As for trying to get rid of griding I don't see how u can do it, as if you make it harder to grid, I will make it part of my start up to get the biggest grid, then when at keys, run a foton script and keep torping other players, hence my grid will always be the biggest. Unfortunatly u can do different things to make the startup of a game different, but in the end, usually the person with the bigest grid will win the game.

He who controls the grid controls the universe.
