I reset the computer friday, Mis B said that help a bit.ICQ was not showing any new messages. That's why I wasn't answering. I am planning to put a new NIC card in the next week to see if that helps.
Also I believe my email address is listed on the server.
In the coming days I plan on putting a T-1 line to see if that speeds it up. I'm waiting until the deliver the Cray Compter to have it installed. I may just go Fiber-Optic instead. Haven't made my mind up yet.
I may just drop all the game below F to cut down on the aliens drag.

Yea, definitely a good idea to kill some of the alien games. Also, a daily event that clears the mail file would help as well.

IF anybody has a way to clear that mail file via a script or helper automaticly I'd love to see it. Especially if it didn't require the server to go down to delete it.

Well, that ought to make your server popular, pings about double digits! LOL
I was meaning to ask you. You have any delays turned on. That might help or hinder, depending on how bad the alien drag is. I'm in one of your games, but it does suffer.

Darkstarbase goes down automatically at noon every day to purge the mail file. There are no delays in the SubZero game, its just laggy. The box that the server resides on is quite antiquated (700mhz) so I think its just overloaded. The lag goes away for awhile when Kilroy reboots the server and clears out the mail file but then the play quality degrades as time passes.

I ran my games originaly on a 500mhz P3 machine with 512mb Ram. I was surprised when I got compliments on the speed of the server. Even with 10-15 people online. Upgrading to a 2.5ghz system didn't change ping times, but I'm sure it won't lag with more users on it now. So I'm not sure his 700mhz system is the problem. unless he's got a bunch playin there, but sofar not seen that many on when I play.

Problem isn't ping time, it's the time that it takes to send out packets. You can send tiny ping packets very quickly most of the time, but screens of text can take a long long time to finish. This can be caused by bandwidth overusage or by the CPU usage being jacked way the heck up.
Either way, it's not hard to test for those conditions and fix the problem.

My guess is either his internet speed, he's got some stray delays turned on, or way to many aliens.

So the game is over then? Aww, I was enjoying the sideshow.
Laff, wakko... the excuses people make when they lose, hillarious. Come on man, buck and own your loss, don't be lame like that. If Que's is experiencing the kind of lag ya'll say he is then it sounds to me like a reboot was in order, regardless.
Also sounds to me like you were counting on a bunch of afk scripting to keep you in the game and when it failed (which afk scripts often do) you lost. Come on dude, you know better than that don't you? If your afk scripts get you killed because of whatever... it's not the other corp's fault.

Yas know it never even occured to me that someone could be so low as to ask a sysop to reboot so they could screw over another corp.
Unfortunately some people have to do things like work, go to school etc. And sometimes ya just don't depend on your cannons to hold against a team of 6 people in the middle of the day when you can't be there. So defense scripts have to be left on. And btw....why is it that these guys seem to be available 24/7 to attack us....do they all sit home and collect welfare?
Darn.
