I finally have TWXProxy working in Linux and being a CS major I'm tempted to make a script, so I want to make a very crippling one. I want to be able to go around the universe (of course avoiding certain hazards like aliens and such) and wipe out ports.
Of course the script would require a planet with extra figs on it and a ship with a large fig capacity, minimum 4000 fig per attack, and good attack odds. Basically in the right hands it would be deadly.
Anyone think I should attempt to develop this?

It's been done, laff. Got one sitting right here that will destroy a port after buying ore and doing any negos. Pretty easily really, but you don't need to destroy them all. Just destroy all fuel sellers or equip buyers, depending upon the edits and the backbone of the game. If you're developing in a bubble just blow any that aren't in the bubble, that way you have your own ports still.
It's a decent way to lockdown a game, but you have to have the universe pretty well gridded to make it work. No point in all that in a turns game, unlims... well, yea. If you've got the coverage for it, great.
Enjoy writing scripts. TWX especially, lots of fun compsci trivia built into it. =)

I have one.
It is like my unexplored sector scout, but will explore, find a port and blow it up.
If you get low on shields or figs, it either goes to a class 0 or home and fig up.

Even though others have already written scripts, write it anyway. You may have a different angle on how to acomplish it, and it always feels better to use a script that you have written to accomplish something.

I agree with Promethius. I like using a variation to understand what the scripts do. Plus it helps me to prepare my training section on Scripts in the TW Academy site. Some scripts are easy to use than others, some require other scripts. In the end, it never hurts to have a few scripts out there from different creators that do the same thing. You may want to incorporate some other angle that others missed.

I have a generic ZOC script that I have used for blowing ports. Basically it reads a list of sectors from a text file, express warps to each sector and executes a macro. The default macro just drops a single defensive fighter, but I just enter pay9999^Md when prompted for the macro if I'm killing ports. I have also used this script for creating planets, destroying planets, and making navhaz. So if you write your own script you may want to give it multiple uses by having it prompt for a macro.

I agree with Prom. Write it anyway. My universe port destroyer was fun to write and watch. So was my planet destroyer. Then I got smart and wrote a script that just cleans sectors. It leaves nothing but Hazz in it's wake. Kind of scary...
One piece of advice. Blowing a port gives 50 exp and -50 align. Don't forget that if you want to stay blue and/or fedsafe.
